That '78 Monte Carlo is a damn sweet ride, Rattler!

Thanks! The only spot on the car is on the front drivers side. Many years ago my grandmother caught one of the poles at the bank, but it only hurt the paint. The 78 still has the original AM 8 Track player in the dash, but she blows cold AC, and drives great.

So, I am saving up for a down payment on a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab or extra cab, 2002 or earlier (I hate the new design they came up with in 2003 for the front end), 4wd, maybe Z71, 5.6 liter engine or better

Mine is a '00 Onyx Black Chevy Silverado Z-71, 5.3 V8. I agree the new front end is just plain ugly. I too am a Chevy fan to the core, but if I were to get a 3/4 ton or bigger diesel, I think I would have too looked hard at the options. Independently, the Duramax and the Allison are outstanding, but they just don't work well together.

If you want a 4DR crew cab 1/2 ton you have to step up to the 2004, either that or get a 1500HD(no Z-71 pkg.). Also the 1/2 ton engine options are the 4.3 V6, 4.8 V8, and 5.3 V8 (or the 6.0 V8, only in SS/2WD and the 1500HD).

Let me know when you get closer to getting something, I'll let you know what to look out for.

Our government prevent us from having decent size cars by taxing the car and the fuel so highly no one can afford them, (17.5% sales tax on the car when you buy it, approx $300 a year 'road tax' to be allowed to drive on the road, 75% tax on fuel, Insurance Premium tax on motor insurance...) but I splash out on a 2001 Ford mondeo 1.8 ...

A boring 1990 Toyota extended cab pickup. Pretty bland, but it works, and I don't feel guilty putting the milage on it.

My fun ride though, is a 2000 Triumph Daytona 955i motorcycle. The triple is sweet. Not quite hyper-bike horsepower, but enough torque to make up for it... and you don't see one every time you roll up to a stop light.

Sweet frickin' bikes!!!

Still using my Shelby Dakota unless the wife lets me drive the 03 Taurus SEL. Just finished picking up a1972 1.7L Porsche 914 for a friend and driving it home. Got my eye on the 72 Beetle he'll need to move when he starts garaging the Porsche for restoration.

2003 Toyota Tundra. I went shopping for a Tacoma to replace a 2000 Ford Ranger - ball joints at 47000 miles! Whatsup with that! My wife spots a Tundra and says, "I like that". Then she says, "If I can't have a Jaguar then I at least want a truck with leather seats." Cost me big bucks. Last time she is going truck shopping with me. At least the version with the leather seats has a power rear window.... In any case, the Tundra has been great.

My 1981 Toyota Corolla is inconsequential compared to my toy I brought out of winter storage and reinsured just today:

:D :D :D :D :D

I`m the proud owner of a 1998 Toyota T-100 extended cab. Bought new and it has easily been the best vehicle I`ve ever owned.

1996 1/2 ton Chevy K1500 Suburban LT 4WD. 160,000 miles and going strong. Looks just like this one.

Cool! I've always wanted one of those. :)

I love my three dogs and three cats a lot more than I love my car. And I'm very fond of my car... ;)

I drive a bright blue 2003 Subaru WRX Wagon.

Don't complain...back home in Malaysia they charge 300% tax on imported cars. So loads of people just end up buying a proton. Just for comparison. When they first brought in the new Volkswagen Beetle it cost RM250000 which is just under £34 000.

Current prices for a Land Rover Freelander is RM215000-RM226000. Which is £29000-30000.

All this 'cos they want to protect the national car. Idiots.

We share a 2003 Corvette and a 2004 Honda Pilot. I'm also thinking that new Z06 is goin' in the garage, I'll have to wait until 2007.

Win
