ITE and Scott, thanks for the showing the old print ads, those were fun to view.

Not to hijack, but on a similar note...... You've all probably seen this BUCK video ad on youtube before, if not, take a peek. It's 5 minutes long and quite well done.

I love the old ads too! They can be both a wealth of information and a source of confusion. Take a look at the one above the membership card titled New Buck Knives. Now look at the adress it gives. Buck was never on Wakarusa street so it begs the question, what the heck?
Chuck does not remember for sure but I have seen 3 or so ads with that address and they all have that style of Buck knife pictured. I also have an old, copy of an old "Buck?" catalog with the same Wakarusa address and those same style of knives.
Its a real mystery!

Field and Stream, Sports Afield, and Outdoor Life. Those are the big three magazines Buck advertised in from the mid 1940's and on. I made a chart showing which issues of each has a Buck ad in them.
If anyone is interested, just let me know. If you see an old magazine for sale and want to know if it has an ad, send me an email and I will check my chart.

Also, I have a standing offer of a free cool Buck knife for any ad dated in 1952, 1953, or 1954. I have yet to find one during this timeframe.
I know that Chuck lost a his sister Ruth, Al's daughter, in 1952 and am wondering if the knife business took a back seat for a while as it was naturally very hard on the family.

Joe,
Is it possible that Wakarusa St. was simply the address of someone they had contracted to take care of orders? Just a guess. I will now be looking through old magazines everytime my wife drags me to an antiques store. :o

Hello again everyone,

Okay, did I open a can of worms or what... ... I'm always looking through old magazines for ads on old toys, cars and just to see how much thing use to cost years ago... Now that I collect Buck knives and other brand knives, I bought some old Gun magazines at the swap meet and found these old Buck knives ads and thought they were really cool and wanted to share them with everyone... I sure hope everyone here love to see them like me... I will post some more later... :D ...

Thanks again for taking the time to look and read my ads...

ITE
