A German-made Olsen I haven't carried in a long time.

In less yellow light, the other side of it would do for black Friday.

Olsens are cool  Jer, especially the German made ones and most often held in high esteem in our home state.

Nice choice James :)
Thanks Jack! :) Radio Jacks are a good choice any-day. Those diamond shields really set them apart.

Yeah.
I wish I'd bought some of those curvacious space-age looking ones that I thought were too quirky back when they were available. I have a couple of medium stockmans, a Bowie, and a couple of kitchen knives of theirs. Always hard and sharp.

Yeah.

You and me both! All the Olsens are getting pretty hard to locate today but I guess that makes those you have a real treasure. (at least the way I've been seeing them priced lately) Love to see your Bowie if and when you get a chance, my friend.

I found it! I'll post it in Good Old Fixed Blades, lest I'm meandering from the topic of this thread.

Thanks James, I love the diamond shields, though I wish GEC had been more diligent about fitting them :)

When I enlarged your pics I can just barely see what you mean. Unfortunate. You'd think that the diamond shield would be one of the easier inlays, though it could be more difficult due to the low volume of them. ??? Still a very nice SFO!

It was fitted badly, and then ground off on one side. It looks pretty bad in the hand I think :( You WOULD think it would be easy James, but I think back in those times, GEC's staff were machinists rather than cutlers. I returned a Washington Jack, which had a crack in the ebony, and was told that, as they only had one real cutler then - Bill Howard - I'd have to wait 6 months. I eventually got the knife back, but I'm afraid he absolutely ruined it, and I never carried it again. The worse customer service I've ever had, sadly :( Thank you James

Jack Black Jack Black
There certainly were better ways to resolve the problem you had with the Washington Jack. :(
It seems GEC's craftsman were developed thru a process of years of learning their trade. Unfortunately you were one of those who helped fund their education. Let's hope those days are far behind us.
