There are more knives in the Boker cabinet now, as I found more magnets. I will update pics soon. ;)

:eek::eek: A one of a kind TC Barlow?? :confused::confused::eek::eek:

Is that Primble's Christmas present or something?? :eek::confused::D:barf:

Yes it is your Christmas present.......I made it just for you! :eek::confused::D:barf:

That Old Primble display case is growing a fine collection, of friends and knives!! It is quite astounding to watch!!

Aside: Nice Stag TC Mark!! It is great that you sourced the stag from a deer you harvested!!

Very much appreciated Charlie. :thumbup::)

P.S. - So many magnets now that I noticed my kitchen knives rattling in their blocks the other day. I suppose they want to be display cabinet knives. :D

Look what I got Primble. :eek::D

Hoaaaaa! Looking Sharp there Markie! - nice touch - usually I would scorn such a person to do the unspeakable-but it worked- and it worked well my friend...what was the scales that you had to remove to make this happen if you dont mind me asking Sir?

Every once in a while, an old knife arrives and is much nicer in person than the pictures which helped sell it to me. As I unrolled this old ( 100 years old plus others think ) John Primble India Steel Works Fancy Crown Bolster Jack Knife, I was pleasantly surprised by it's beauty - quite a bit more than I expected. The old stag is rich and black, I am thinking this might be the old black stag which they used to advertise in old knives catalogs. I am no expert and I honestly don't buy very much stag, rather bone, however, I love this one and it is the second stag in the old Primble collection. Maybe some of you old knife experts might want to weigh in on the black stag - I am honestly unsure, but, would like to know what others think. I liked the blade patina and will leave it as found. I am glad to have it for my old Primble cabinet and it will boot out the last non Primble knife, the old Schrade Cut Co. knife. Although it is not really too photogenic, I wanted to submit a few pictures for your viewing:

The knife is 3.75 inches closed. Stag handles on the old India Steel Works Primbles is pretty rare to find - the vast majority were bone.

^^^^Not photogenic? It is stagalicious. And those bolsters are just works of Art! I think its the third time I have seen that shield today:confused:

How long is it closed?

That IS a beauty, Primble! :thumbup:

I'm not an "old knife expert" (well, I have the "old" part mastered), but can't help but expressing my admiration of that stag. And the bolster is stunning (this coming from someone who once expressed a preference for "simple" bolsters).

I was surprised to read that you had left the blades "as is". In the first photo, I'd have sworn that the blades had the "Primble patina" that I've learned to recognize and admire!

Anyway, IMNO (in my novice opinion) that is a stunning knife! Congratulations on your acquisition!

Beautiful, Primble! A fantastic addition! Now, I heard something about an orphaned Schrade. We here at the Parke Home for Wayward Cutlery make it our mission to shelter, care for, and foster... :D

That is a dandy, I can see how that pushed the SCC out of the display.

Very nice addition Primble. It looks like Sambar Stag from India. I like the crowned bolsters, they add a nice touch to the knife. :thumbup::)

I love everything about that grand ole girl my friend:thumbup: Shield, bolster and those covers!!! & not being photogenic? It most certainly is;)

I agree with the others Primble- Lovely knife, just check out those absolutely first class Bolsters - Whew!, Stag to die for as well my friend! When these knives get this old, any knife is good to have-but this one STILL retains full rights to be displayed next to your other lovely knives - this is a real nice ol knife!

It's all been said before me. Indeed rare one in fantastic condition, I guess with a little help from your side. The crown bolsters are gorgeous and the handles are real beauts.
Congrats for the new addition.
Mike

Many thanks for all of the nice comments. The display and the knives it contains - I am very proud (and grateful) for the result. :thumbup:;):)

I was browsing for old Primbles and ran across an old Belknap bone spear point Barlow, similar to the beautiful bone clip point which Paul Hilborn sent me. My ticker started reasoning that I could get a second Primble Barlow and leave one in the cabinet, while toting the other. I kept going back and forth in my mind, about whether I actually needed another Primble Barlow and I decided to just give a low offer on the old knife - maybe the seller would reject it. Of course, as fate would have it, the seller agreed to my offer, because here it is:

I really like having the pair.

and the clip point from my friend Paul:
