"Old Knives"

Charlie, Paul, Gus, thank you guys, was pretty happy to find one that still had its chain.

Added this single blade 3 1/2" Humason&Beckley jack, considering it's at least 110 years old it's in pretty nice original condition. The horn covers only have minor cracks and the blade still has original finishes and sharpening scratches. H&B seemed to use a lot of horn and stag, more so than other American makers.

Nice H&B, John!! I think blade-stamps, and serious match-strikes add wonderful touches to a Jack!!

John. very nice Jack👍

Here is a rather obscure knife marking, at least to me. It is a Pavian Cutlery Co. St. Paul MN 1907-1920. I did a search on BF with just a very few results. Charlie posted a scan of a beautiful Jack sold/marked by Pavian a few years back in this Old Knives thread. According to Goins they were a wholesale distributor of cutlery, silverware and clocks. This opposite end pen knife is 3.25 inches.

Anyone have an idea about maybe what cutlery company made this one? Thanks

Have to agree with my friends above!
The last few pages are great viewing- mind you- when has the "Old Knives" Thread ever been boring? Nice obscure names coming out of the woodwork guys.

I agree with what Charlie said about Blade Stamping and Match-strikes!!! man- they add nothing but good to a Knife- also too with that one Augie is the deep Swage work as well with everything else just to make that knife quite a Phenomenal looking Knife - scratches 'n all!

Charlie, YES it very well could be that Bingham made this Pavian of mine! They both have the same features. Same number of pins, same type of bone jigging, same long pull, same shield, same looking blades, same type tangs both blades, same type kicks (hidden on the secondary) and same choils. Thanks for the input I appreciate it👍

I don't believe I have posted this one yet, maybe just on facebook. I like contributing to this sub forum when I can its been a few months. A blade stamp KA-BAR union sleeve board jack, I am really on the look out for more horizontal blade stamped KA-BARs. 202257334_4785466954813389_7118422652705759201_n.jpg
