"Old Knives"

VERY nice old Schrades Fishin ( is it Ralph? ) Thats a neat pick up, worn but loved and still looking great! :)

That OT is a beauty isnt it!!

That's a lovely Knife Ed, it could be a retailers name and not Cutler Firm?, I have a had a look through my books( quickly ) and cant find anything there? Seems to be a very large Knife at least 4 inches closed?
Thought of that but ran out of talent when Grace's Guide gave forth nada.
Yes tis mahoosive imo lol, 5 inch closed north of 9 open.
Early multi tool. Love it
I suppose that was what it was yes. It was a bit rougher than it was now when I got it but I've tried my best to keep it real.
Ed, Goins lists and Applebe & Company , Sheffield g. 1900-1920

That's the only information they show for it. Beautiful knife!

Eric
Ah ha! Eric has the goods! Thank you Sir!!
When time allows I will try to dig in further on that information. I speculated it was earlier but I think I tend to do that.
Eric, being that you have the skills and resources to give names to the nameless may I chance you once more on this intriguing one?

I can find nothing. Its rather nicely made with sleek grinds/profile and super stag. Coined nickle silver liners and polished backspring too.

As I'm here I may as well post a rough group shot of some recents

Mike that's an incredible find! Geez you've been coming up with some outstanding knives lately! What an etch! 😲 😍

Mike, that!!!!!!! is one stunning Knife, I too think you are lucky getting hold of that one- That has it all :D

euroken- wow- that's a very nice collection of beauties!!! Love them!

hey Charlie, got a little more info on that first one up top in the reddish/saddle brown bone? Might have my eyes on a first old knife on the hook to real in! 😂 thanks!!!
Hard to see the Tang Stamp; arched "RUSSELL" (over) ">R>", with an arrow thru it ,
(over) "U S A". Most Russells have slightly worn/flawed Bolster stamps. The one you mentioned does not - it's pretty clear. We need a Russell expert!!

appreciate it Charlie!

I found this in a box of my late dad's old tools. he was a SeaBee in WW2 in the South Pacific.

it was a solid block of rust when I found it: neither blade opened. I soaked it in penetrating oil a few days, rinsed it in 91% alcohol & found this. after trying to clean it, seems to be a Camillus TL-29.

Is there a thread on rehabilitating old knives? I know the collectors value is trivial, but it has some sentimental value.

thanks . . .

Use oil and light abrasives, such as steel wool and ultra fine Scotchbrite. Resist any temptation to use power tools or Dremel tools. It is gonna take some time. Just try to make it look better and do the work by hand and you will be rewarded. ☺️
