Pictures, or it didn't happen!!Love it Lyle!!!
I certainly don’t have a Farmers Jack ( and I don’t think many would) in the Sears range but I came across a Winstead Hawksbill that it’s totally unused in fact it doesn’t seem to have ever had a edge put on it, which I think is quite neat but would like to know why as the knife doesn’t have any issues for them to stop near the very end of manufacture.
I have looked close at this knife and I am very sure that it has never seen a edge.![]()
Such a beauty, Duncan!! On par with the best antiques!!The style and size of the font is bang on, the Tang simply does not have any wear being unused.
The Knife looks good, possibly the sharpest Hawkbill Tip I have seen.
I love that Duncan and you know I'd have an edge on that in minutes and in my pocketPaul! nice pick up on that very cool Cut Co my friend !!
Ok Mr Campagna- Challenge accepted Sir!
But first- My Apologies!!! I typed in Winstead- I was meant to say Wilbert - Sears earlier Brand- this could be one of the two famous names possibly of being an Empire or Napanoch ?
I explored the possibility of the Knife being messed with - I don't think it has, showing no signs of this, but to the more professional eye - comments welcome of course.
Someone going to the trouble of forging this Stamping - for a low end value Knife I doubt it and the Knife shows no signs of being tampered with.
Edge has been studied under Loupe, it simply doesn't have an edge applied to the Blade.
Stamp looks good, Stamping proportionally is good with perfect spaces in between when comparing to other Wilbert Cutlery Co Stamps.
The style and size of the font is bang on, the Tang simply does not have any wear being unused.
The Knife looks good, possibly the sharpest Hawbill Tip I have seen.
