"Old Knives"

Another pre-war (or maybe during the war??) 4" stockman from Robeson. Some kind of fairly soft resin covers, as they scratch quite easily.

Although wearing Blue Collar workwear- that's still a very fine Jack you have there Jeff.

From around the first World War (1900-1920), this seldom seen Spey Jack!! Little used, a bit abused, is still pretty full, and snappy!! Thanks Augie Augie for letting me own it!!Spey old SCC 1.jpgSpey old SCC 2.jpg
Imagining histories, like I sometimes do, I suspect this knife sat in the shop window, bleaching in the sun, until someone bought it on sale, because no-one was looking for a Spey Jack in the "Big City" of Buffalo!! Hence the lighter front cover!! Hardly used, it sat in a drawer for many years before it came to the daylight!! 😁

You are welcome Charlie, glad you are enjoying that Buffalo, as you state it is very hard to find a spey 2 blade jack.

Whoa!!! Stop the Horses! Now THAT is one spectacular knife, although lazy having never worked a day of it's life 🤣
Outstanding condition! Lucky you Charlie.

Nice one Augie- pretty hard all right yet alone in this condition

Marked Lewis&CoLtd - Vancouver, BC on the main blade, and Sheffield, Eng. on the pen.
A shadow, wharncliffe pen, horn handles, fancy grade on the main side!! 3 1/2", a nice, well made, usable knife!!!!
Only knife I've seen trademarked to my current home town of Vancouver, BC!!!! Contracted in Sheffield, I wonder who made it??

Who ever heard of Orange Cut Co??? When Walden Knife was sold/moved to New England, a few of the cutlers remained in Walden N.Y, and started the Orange Cut Co, in 1923!!! They only lasted until ~1925; a short time!!Orange Cut Co 1.jpgOrange Cut Co 2.jpgMust be fairly rare if they only made knives for 2 years!!

The Swan Works Jack arrived here today with an entourage! A most elegant Saynor plus a nifty folding button hook.
Thanks, Charlie!

The Saynor will ride in my pocket tomorrow, while Swan & Toynbee get acquainted. 😄
