"Old Knives"

Amazing show Mike.
Some gorgeous pieces there.

I thought a while back that you could press Stag, Horn as we know you can heat and press, but apparently you cannot press Stag. I was discussing this with a very well known Knife Collector some time back.

Yea I wish I knew which it was. Last I heard was that it was stag but not heated and pressed just natural looks that way 🤔🤔

Mike I bought an I*XL of you a while back that had the very same "Popcorn Stag" type of handle material.
The Colouration sways you to Stag immediately doesnt it, but man, those latest knives you have shown are quite phenomenal, the amount of depth in the Knife circles over there is something I envy greatly, but always appreciate people like yourself sharing these post for us to feats our eyes on!

Picked up an old Lambsfoot, it's a bigun at 4" closed. The best I can tell it was made by Arnold & Son, i haven't found any info on the Genius stamp, maybe it was a marketing tool to make you feel like you were making a smart move buying their knife. The jigging is a little different on each side, the pile side jigging and color is similar to NYK. Looking at it under a 10X glass the gouge marks are awesome! I like that flush joint

Interesting knife!!! 😮 :rolleyes::cool:

Not a Knife- but in the neighbourhood - Mods if this isn't acceptable, please let me know and I will remove this ( by the way Happy New Year Frank and Gary  ).

I saw this and thought I would pick it up here locally, Seems to have some age, stamped in the good Ol Font is : BAM with a Iron Cross ( over ) CAST STEEL.
So my initial searching didn't come up with anything Bam - then after a short while I found something, BAM is a Trade Mark of John Sutton, This Fleam seems to be around the 1820 mark, it is noted that having Brown Horn as the Basket is unusual, The one I have has that same Blade Horn Basket, I see that other materials like Ebony is used as well.
Pretty Cool, Oh boy do I wish mine had that kind of beautiful engraving of the old on it. Pretty cool for something this old.

I found a link of which there is a following of the Fleams here: http://www.alllancets.com/Brass2.html

Cool find! In my book, that is a cutting tool that belongs here.

That’s a cool looking knive. I don’t know anything about them, but I saw an Arnold and sons for sale somewhere. It wasn’t a lambs food but looked similar otherwise. Said something about Sheffield.

Very cool. Interesting little read, too. Had initially no clue that gleams were used for bloodletting.
Hauk

Oh Man!!!

Dave they are amazing !!! I too love those deep Blade Stamps

Yet I can't seem to get into the Later German examples - where there is just too much, but the Older examples- Oh yeah- bring it on!

Above is simply my opinion and by no means knocking anyone's taste in their knives whatsoever - Knife collecting is very cool like that, it's personal taste and room for everyone :)
