"Old Knives"

It's really hard to make out with any certainty. Could it say COLLINS ? I see the crown shape above it with the stars. I don't recognize that symbol. There was a "Collins Co." that was making knives for quite a while, mostly fixed blades, out of Connecticut from the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's.

I tried to enhance the stamp but I still don't recognise it.

Years of lurking and you finally gave me my excuse to make an account. Thank you.

That is a Columbia Cutlery Co, or perhaps it was Columbia Knife Co. I believe it was a NY company. I recognize the Union Shield design behind it. That is probably what’s making it hard to read. Very cluttered stamp but gorgeous when clean.

Welcome, what a great first post. Hopefully you have a lot of knowledge to share with the group, and show some knives of your own.

Thank you all for the comments on the Miller Bros, appreciated,:thumbsup:

Picked up a couple little used Schrade 804 Whittlers, a late 1950's bone handled with the remnants of a Craftsman 9488 etch and a later delrin handled one which will go right in my pocket. Like the 804's, nice larger whittler.

Thanks Charlie, It is interesting to see the different era bone on the same model.
Great showing of Schrade stags Charlie like Walden Knife CO. they are rare.

Nice ones John.
This is one of the most interesting aspects of pocket knife collecting for me. The jigging on the later is distinctive and I have a knife for H A Dreer with what I think is similar. Was a particular manufacturer marketing this bone to others or a bone company?

Welcome okiecollector.

Love it! Thanks for jumping in.

I posted one photo of this in Old Friends too. An old and banged up Schrade my dad gave to me that was my grandfather's originally. Can anyone help me with dating this one or offer any more information about it?

The Schrade NY USA stamp was used from about 1973 (when they changed from the Schrade Walden stamp) up until about 1976 or '77 when they dropped the NY. Yours looks like a pattern #825 from the mid 1970s.
Thank you very much. Cool to know.
