"Old Knives"

Oh Lordy!!...Jake...that Primble has shaken me my friend!!....what a stunner, I have a soft spot for many-a Primble...but this one takes the cake, and that Solingen Cattle knife aint half bad as well....daym
Is there someone that we can complain to about this teasing going on? :D

Thank you, buddy. Yesterday, I was totin' the junior cattle knife -- really nice grinds and swedges on those blades. That stag Primble is a gem. It was used but it's still in good condition. It walks and talks better than most of my modern production knives.

Jake,

I really like that swell center/coke bottle. Lot of knife in a 3 inch package. Sometimes it seems tough to get a really nice shaped clip in a knife this size but this one is spot on.

Thanks for sharing,

Had to bring this over from the previous page. The proportions -as others have noted- are so well-judged. The texture of the stag is now enhanced by ageing, dark butter colour/custard is magnificent. Such a fine knife in a small frame, very beautiful example.

Here's a Remington Swell end Jack (R223) Nice old knife with
a great patina and excellent snap and lots of blade left..

Thank you, guys. I always enjoy looking through the oldies thread and it's nice to be able to add a few of my own. Nice peach seed on that jack, Jason!

Boy, these knives just get better lookin as they get older!...or is it my eye sight:o
I have to agree with Jake, that bone is just beautiful.

This is the finest thread in all of the interwebnet and thats saying something! Thanks to all who have posted!

Here is my best piece. The blades and bolsters are a tad darker than in reality and the Dunlap caught my flash but i'm no camera wiz so that's as good as it gets over here :)

What do you folks think about this old beauty ? the scales are intact on the obverse , overall knife is in good shape , blades have nice walk , talk...

how did yopu get it so clean?
great lookin knife,

Vintage Camillus equal end, 4 lines stamp estimated to be pre-WW2. This came rusty, hardly opened and the blades were full of file marks. Now it's a beauty ;)

I worked on this beauty for 4-5 hours. I've started with 1000 grit paper then 1500, 2000 and 2500 and completed with natural polishing stones used for finishing jobs. I did all the polishing very careful not to reduce material. Before that the knife was for a about 2 days in WD40 "Bath".

Why thank you Sir ! :)

If my memory serves me correctly they were made by Camillus for Sears and Roebucks , it was called Sears Dunlap Texas Jack , the scales are an unusual composite material that I hear is quite flammable :D

Few things irritate me more than to find a nice old Slipjoint whose blades were either filed or taken to a grinder... That came out very nice :)

I dont mind it if its repairable personally, cause then I dont feel so bad using and carrying it!

Jason, that Robeson Tear Drop Jack is just amazing! blade shape of the main kinda reminds me of a cotton sampler profile.
