"Old Knives"

I am a lurking person who has not learned how to post pics. I can email iPhone pics, but that is it.

I Truly appreciate all of your pics in this thread. It is like having a knife museum in my home town.

My sincere thanks to all of Waynorth's many friends and to the mods.

This thread is a true joy.

I added a long list including Baker, Brad, .Roland, Rob Thomasson, Vince, Dwight, Mike Berkowitz, Cambelclan, hawk, cnas and many others, but the machine ate it.

Mike H.

My Sincere thanks to all posters and to Elliott & Gus.

Mike H.

Reader1 has sent me his photo of his little box of treasure, here it is. Some nice knives in there:

Mike, I really like the gunstock jack and the cattle knife at bottom center-- can you tell us more about those, i.e. brand, size, etc.?

Thanks Mike! All those look great buddy! Nice to see
some of those knives I know you've got...

I normally dont like Muskrats, but I gotta tell ya that is a really nice looking piece...the bone from what I can see has a lot of character! nice looking collection. :)

Wow! Was that main blade originally a hawkbill? The owner of that knife surely got his moneys worth!

Here's a well used English Jack marked W. Bingham Co Cleveland. It looks similar to this Schrade English Jack from the Elusive Schrades thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/622355-Elusive-Schrades?p=6521959#post6521959 The main blade is marked B2818 on the back. It's about 4.5" closed.

This is fantastic jack, the peach seed jigged bone is very similar to Schrades.

supratentorial,

I love everything about your W. Bingham English Jack. Everything from the fine, but not flashy, threaded Bolster to the blade shapes and their wear to the peach seed
jigging just makes me smile.

In fairness, I should say that this is true of most of the knives in this great thread.

I cannot explain it. There is a gentle feeling of joy that infuses my being as I view the many wonderful, and generally unreachable, knives shown in many threads in this
Traditional forum.

"Tis indeed a great and wonderous thread!

And Schrade made a lot of knives for Bingham, including yours, Jake. A goodie!

Here's a Keen Kutter "Swell Center Jack", Great old bone! I hate that the blades
were cleaned up! But it's still a good old knife! Hate shinny blades on an old knife,
You can't see the swedges as good.

Jason

Jason, why dont you give the blades a very carefull, even stroked 400g wet & dry paper?...this will leave a duller-yet even finish on those blades, nice knife.

Does anyone know of any old slipjoints that were manufactured in Philadelphia? could you drop me a visitor msg with a few names please..

thanks kindly,

ISK
