"Old Knives"

Old Keen Kutter with barely visible "Hand Hammered" etch.

Here's something a little different - a Henkels slipjoint. It was obviously dropped on the tip once upon a time, and the kick has been filed down to keep the blade from being proud. I'm pretty sure the scales are bakelite.

Nice example.
I'm sure you are right, but it looks like it could even be Horn. Any shrinkage?

Here is an old Case jack knife I recently got, it is unique as the blade is spay, which I find very attractive. To be honest I only heard about the quality of old Case knives but never really handled one, I used to have few Case XX knives but never Tested era knives (1920's-40's). Now I understand! it has almost custom quality, very smooth action, firm enough spring but not too much, great bone which I couldn't catch in the photos and centered blade that flush at all 3 positions. Enough said

I have never handled one either, Mike. The F & F looks first rate and really special is that spay! Thanks for sharing.

This old Rodgers was found in the dump by a friend who then gave it to me. It looked like it was stored for years in a tool box, had a coating of slightly oily grot which may have saved it from rusting out while residing in the dump. It's marked with a George, i'm assuming Geo 5th 1910 to 1936. Handles are horn, blades are marked Government of Canada. Here are a few picks of before and after a gentle cleaning.

Best regards

Robin

What is the length on this Remington? Is that a single spring, single catch-bit knife?

Thanks for sharing!

It is 3 3/8 long closed. Model R4145. Single backspring. Remington called this main blade a Turkish Clip. Not sure what you mean by catch-bit? It has the small spacer on the pen blade end to make up for the thinne blade.

Thanks for the added info! Yes, the small spacer is referred to as a catch-bit.

Neat little knife thanks for sharing.
