"Old Knives"

That IS something different Jason - very cool Swedges going on there.
Tom - I am with Hal - that Remington is a beaut, but to be honest, I think that Sword Brand is something else.

Really like that Sword Brand

Here' something a little different! It's a G&G Cut Co. Buffalo, NY. 3-3/4 Coke Bottle Jack with a Sheeps foot main and pen secondary. Both blades have Saber grinds on the back of the blade?? That's different but it's pretty cool...imho. The action is still smooth as glass, and the snap on both blades is nice and hard. It's a nice example of a great old work knife...imho. But nobody can find any info on G&G Cut Co. It's not in Goins or LG-4. So I asked a few very knowledgeable knife guys and they didn't know and couldn't find anything! I was very surprised. If anybody knows more about G&G Cut Co. please let me know... It's one heckuva knife...imho.

J I could not quite picture in my mind this knife when you were telling me about it. That my friend is a dandy!

I know we don't see much in the way of synthetics here but from old catalog research, and the tang stamps, both of these knives are older than 1930. I guess that qualifies them as getting old. Both have great snap with tight blades. I would not hesitate to drop either in my pocket and use. They also have frames you don't see everyday. The Hammer Brand NYKC- Walden is a Split Spring (wedged) Whittler #3111. The Simmons Keen Kutter was called a Farmers Stockman #73845 1/4D. 1/2 stops all blades. I have never owned or even seen a red synthetic scaled antique traditional knife before and found both of these inside of three weeks. I guess in their day they would have been called Modern Traditionals:eek:

Here's a 4-Line Camillus Coke Bottle Jack 3-3/4 ebony handles. Has an amazing clip blade, Saber grind on both sides only half way up. I love the blade. The propeller
shield fits the knife perfectly..imho. Hard snap and smooth action. This might be my favorite old knife, It's nice in pocket as well, not heavy at all...

I want to go shopping with you:D

Yep, that's a nice grind on the Clip Jason.

Brad, lovely knives, I think the Whittler is something else, I am not too sure if I have seen a wedged-springed Whittler with an Awl before - very cool designed knife.
I thought of you yesterday while I was doing some shots of knives, theres a lot of things that I have here from you, and like I mentioned in Charlies Thread, its such a great feeling looking at my "treasures" and thinking of the friends that have helped me along the way -so Thank you Brad!

Jason, the G&G is a gas! Almost a chisel grind with the different angle on the pile side. And then the big swedge.
One of the best you've shown, thanks again!

Been thinking of you as of late as well. Glad you are up and around Duncan. Ah, yes, treasure!

Nice knives Jason, Tom, and Brad I especially like that Keen Kutter(;)). I think Winchester made that Keen Kutter Brad,it seemed to me that I have matched that pattern with theirs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong .

Im with Gevonovich - good score!...just look at that knife!!!!...that's a very handsome knife!! Lucky you, Simmons had their finger on the pulse didn't they!!!

Can't add any information on this, my knowledge too limited, but I'd like to add a few more words of appreciation.

It shows of its quality in an understated manner but it also shows how scarce the Sheepfoot/Lambfoot master has become but it's a terrific blade. When mating it to a good Pen minor this offers an excellent combination. I'd like to see more Lambfoot type blades on offer, GEC could do something here as there's a dearth of them. I do have a Schatt&Morgan English Jack with Sheepfoot master but it's a rather long unwieldy knife. The aesthetics of this old knife are so well suited to the blades and grinds.

Congratulations, Will

Here's an old Robeson. Looks to me the main still has the factory edge, at least that's what the seller told me. :) Great walk and talk, everything nice and tight. It's sitting on an old Filson Jac-shirt...

Nice knife roseskunk, but I don't know what the seller was smoking. It definitely doesn't have the factory edge.
