"Old Knives"

Nice handful, but I love the bone on that Shapleigh!

I found this one not long ago and could not find any info. I'd search the forums, use my google-fu, see something close, but no joy. Set it aside, get distracted and weeks later decide to look some more.

This pattern was made by more than one company. I could swear that I have seen an Ulster just like that. In my 1899 HSB catalog is one just like it from Non-XLL. And my 1884 HSB catalog has a similar knife (straight handle instead of contoured, spear blade) from Wostenholm, plus another with the HSB brand.

Here's a couple of PALs, PAL Cutlery that is. If you see any resemblance in these and Remington, there's a good reason for that. Found the EO on the bay and about a year later I found the clip blade version at an antique shop in Jacksonville, TX. while on a trip back home at Christmas, both of these are Rogers bone.

Love those PAL's, Perry. That worn bone is awesome!

Yes, it is. Thanks for posting this. I love the crispness of the tang stamp on that Northfield. Can also see some of the original blade etch.

The stamp on my Ulster is barely legible, but it's there at least:

Here is my older New York Knife sway back (pre Hammer Brand). I really love this old pick bone. Charles
