I am in absolute Awe of that knife Primble Sir, what a stunning knife with amazing Bone, its hard to find words when i look at such superb Bone on a great old knife such as this - absolutely amazing.
I think you doid a superb job with the tidy-up job, that knife when you first recieved it was still a Grand knife and I would have rather owned it than not - thats for sure!

Thank you Duncan - much appreciated. It turned out even better than I expected and it made me happy that I took a chance on it.:)

Nice displays Randy.

Nice display Randy!!

Primble, that HJ is a sight for these HJ jaded eyes! I haven't seen a decent one turn up for a while. It is commendable that you had the foresight to see what it could be!

Thanks much guys..Still looking for the missing 6347 in CASE XX USA 65-69. Need a mint one for the bottom left. The other display is for Camillus and still need to decide what I want to put in it. Right now its displaying some old fishing lures but thinking about displaying my Bose blades??

A couple of new acquisitions:

Humpheys Radiant 3/ 3/4" Utility

c. Between WWI & WWII? Could be wrong about this but feels right based on various factors.

Interesting little knife. Mark side tang is stamped Schmidt & Peters New York while the Pile side is marked Vom Cleff & Co Germany. Research yields that while Cleff was an importer of other makers they also made cutlery themselves. i find virtually nothing on Schmidt & Peters. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Fantastic knives Brad, The book Blade's guide to knives and their value shows two examples of Schmidt & Peters pages 249-250, but the online version has no preview of these pages, if someone has the book he might help with some info.

Mike, thank you much for pointing to a book sitting right in my own library:confused: This is what advancing age does to ones mind:D Schmidt & Peters are mentioned numerous times on those pages. I guess they did not turn up in other references as Schmidt & Peters was apparently an importer of champaign and had nothing to do with cutlery. I had thought it might possibly be an ad knife for a mens clothier etc. due to it being a personal grooming knife or they were acting as an importer for Vom Cleff which did not make any sense as Vom Cleff was already set up in NY as an importer for itself. I wish that old USA makers had adopted this approach, maker on one side and made for who on the other. It would aid greatly in ID. These things are what make knives interesting:)

Anyway, thanks again Mike, I appreciate the lead.

Stupendous covers on both of those. Wow.

Thank you sir.

Nice picture Randy W. Looks more like an interesting corner of a nice man cave than an office:cool:

Case knives are not too bad either. And that case on the left appears to have some items from that well know knife making facility in Indiana!

Some really great examples in this thread!

Here are some of my “old knives”. Hopefully some of you either like kukri, or will just be able to appreciate these for their age and grizzled condition.

From around the mid to late 1800’s:

Thanks Much. Its more of a Man Cave, hide away, dog house...Where I go to get away from TV, Computers and the phone and spend more time reading, cleaning guns and messing with my knife collection or the old fishing tackle. Yep..that case to the left has some old Steal from Wilfred.

Those are extremely impressive Khukuri, the double fullered ones ( if that is the proper description ) are fantastic, I bought a smaller versioned ( the more normal sized ) Khukuri for a workmate of my wife, as he expressed interest in one, I went looking and found it - I always regretted handing that knife over, but my conscience nagged at me that I was looking for a khukuri for him - so in my mind it was his - to be honest he would probably been happy the more touristy examples - the one I handed over was very old, in good condition - it was a very fine example - yours are just fantastic - what a delight to see thanks for sharing!
