"Old Knives"

My great grandfather's whittler and my dad's small serpentine jack.

Don't know if this qualify's as old, but it was generously donated to me by another BF member and it's just beautiful, I've put her in my "off day" rotation, and she's definitely a favourite!

i dont spend alot of time in the "old knives" thread. They knives here usually dont do it for me, they usually have beautiful scales and toothpick blades or whatever
but THIS? this is just gorgeous. thank you for showing us this knife.

Amen to that! Someone needs to make a current reproduction of that pattern! STAT! Just wonderful, and I'm always a sucker for a spearpoint!

How about a little Northfield? I picked up this swell-end barehead jack this weekend at the Queen cutlery collector's show in Pleasantville, PA.

The fit and finish on this one is really impressive to me, given its age. Thanks for looking!

She's not pretty, but you asked for old, not pretty ;)

It was my grandfathers EDC. He's gone so I can't ask him how old it is, but my mother estimates it's around 45 years old. I recently got two of his knives, this one and an old Italian stiletto style folder. Needless to say their very special to me.

One of the most awesome old knives I have seen in a while - fantastic IXL - Charles!!!
I have to wonder why a museum would auction off a piece that fine - are they about to go under or something?:eek::eek::confused::D

Nice old knife and a grandfather's knife is certainly a knife to be respected!;)

Primble yes
the National Knife Museum did close and the collection was broken up. There was an auction for some knives and others were shipped to other museums.

Great knife! Did Bill at GEC see that one?

Charlie I'm beginning to understand what a neat knife the I*XL is. Not what I normally collect, but I was drawn by the stag. With the comments of others like yourself I'm getting a deeper understanding.

Thanks, Charles
