"Old Knives"

Wonderful old knives there Brett and I thank you for showing them.
The top Schrade Walden confirmed for me what I thought to already know.
This old Primble of mine has Schrade DNA, for sure :

Definitely made by Schrade. The Peachseed jigged bone tells it all. Sweet knife Primble.

OK, I thought I would have the patience to not post this until it actually arrived, but I can't resist sharing so I am hosting the seller's own pics. I know very little about these save for the versions made by custom makers nowadays (like Ken Erickson) as exemplars of the craft, nor am I any expert on Sheffield firms or constructions, but I look at knives for a "significant portion" of the day () and this one just really spoke to me (not to mention, as they say, the price was right ;)).

Everything looks full and intact, and if I am not mistaken, the seller even forgot to open the last tool (probably either a fleam or a saw) on the pile side. I'm gonna have a grand time carefully cleaning this and exploring what I hope is an authentic and relatively intact piece of old, old cutlery. Dating it precisely is difficult but I can start with the tang stamp and the corkscrew as a reference.

I like to collect congress jack's, when I can find them, as they prove to be quite an elusive pattern. That being said, this one was a bit of a grail for me and until now I had never even seen one in person other than old catalog pics. The pics below are of an old Remington R423, the quintessential congress jack pattern IMHO, complete with undamaged jigged bone covers, rat-tailed bolsters, nice readable tang stamps, and even the remnants of the old etch! Hope ya like the pics.

amazing, knife, the bone has so much depth, and to find such fresh blades and such a rare pattern is pretty special.
