"Old Knives"

MAYER & MELTZER
I'm not sure about pocket worn for this one .. rust ravaged, yes.
But it still snaps [gently] on 3 blades. It must have been very handsome at one time. 3 1/4 ins closed.

I've lost track of the knives I posted in various places. Thought I would show some from the archives that I haven't posted recently.

This grafting knife, made circa 1844-52, is my oldest. It is marked Stanfield, Neubold & Co without Sheffield. The firm of Yeomans, Stanfield and Newbould dates to 1839. Yeomans left in 1844. There were two other partners in the company, which then ceased in 1852. Maker's information from Tweedale's Directory of Cutlery Manufactures: 1740-2010.

Very nice ADEE

Thanks Jack I keep finding 'em.

A very "made for purpose" grafting knife s-k, and in excellent condition ... and old !

Have not posted anything here for a while, but here is one of my newer additions, a Napanoch (1900-1919 & 1931-1939) shadow with whittler blades (but not a gunstock orange blossom). This fellow has large blades especially the secondaries.

chuko The lovely Napanoch [not heard of it before] certainly adds glamour to the page ! Beautiful.

That's a beautiful lobster Charles. Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection.

This stockman was made in Germany by J.S Holler & Co circa 1890s for Adolph Blaich, a San Francisco sporting goods retailer.

S-k, lovely knife. Are the handles pressed stag or something of that nature? I have a 100 yr old Boker that looks very similar.

Thanks for the comments on the Napanoch. Here is an Orange Blossom that I acquired some years ago. W.R Case (1905-1914)
