"Old Knives"

I just obtained an old Camillus Sword Brand "Scout Knife" with a 4 line stamp. It's a pretty impressive old feller that has lasted some time from the clutches of a scout. The spear blade is noteworthy, with a huge spine. The punch is somewhat interesting on the back side, and the cap lifter has an odd long pull. It's closed length is in the 3 5/8" to 3 9/16" range. Not sure how long they made this particular utility knife. I have included a picture from a 1928 Sword Brand Catalog, issued by Michigan Hardware Company in Grand Rapids Michigan. I had to oil the joints. :)

You have to love it when the catalog and knife come together! The bone is terrific and that punch...wow!. You don't often see a punch with that quality on these Scout knives

Hal - that Sir is STUNNING. A beautiful example and as Charlie would say " Museum Quality".

I love a good Scout knife- but this one is one of the better ones I have ever seen.

Thanks all, for the comments on the Scout Knife. This knife was "found at a house sale in the Lake George area of NY, about 100 miles from the Camillus plant". Ears to the ground on the "beautiful Super Pearl" mentioned in the catalog.

Very nice.

So, is "Super Pearl" very nicely patterned genuine pearl or is it a celluloid representation?

Me too, Mr. Vonovitch,it's definite provenance, and also shows the sizes of blades ,etc. This ones to the right of Hal's.

This cut is the earliest of a rooster comb I've found.

Camillus 4 line rooster comb. You can still make out a little of the Sword Brand etch,in the right light.

That choil on the budding blade... sweet! That's one bad rooster.

I will take a few Trays of the Stag Handled Two Bladed Jacks @ $8.00 each Please, could I also buy a couple of those Farmer Jacks- I know a guy who would like them - Oh.. what the heck...at the price per dozen ?...1 dozen of each please.

Got this today , all I know about it is that it has a faint Sheffield marking on the Blade and anything else has worn off .
The construction is a little different in that the backspring is hidden within the scales and not visible from the outside , closed length is 3 1/4 inches .
Does anyone know anything about my new knife ?

Ken

Very interesting knife Ken. I'm looking forward for any information on this one. I'd guess an army knife of some sort but I think it is too short for that.
