"Old Knives"

Some astonishingly beautiful knives there Vince

I received this knife last week from the ever-generous 'Old & In The Way' :)

Joseph Haywood & Co were an esteemed 19th century firm of Sheffield cutlers, whose mark passed to Needham, Veall & Tyzack and Thomas Turner & Co. According to Geoffery Tweedale this occurred as a joint acquisition in 1902, with an agreement reached that only Turner's were to continue with the pocket-knives. According to other sources, Needham, Veal, and Tyzack acquired the firm in 1902, primarily to add the Haywood factory to their portfolio, and the business passed to Turner's in 1914.

Vince, That's some treasure you have there. The only thing better then receiving that email would be receiving a package with those beauties in it! :)

Jack, That's a fine old knife! Nice going Stephen!

Thanks Gary, I think it'll be getting some pocket time :)

Vince ,if that's a scanner and I think I remember it is , he has it dialed in about the best I've ever seen. Great knives shown. You should let him scan all of the ones you sell.:)

Jack that is an excellent old knife in wonderful condition.

Vince - some absolute treasures in those photos. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Jack - nice photos of the Haywood. I hope you enjoy it. :) The Rodgers quill knife is also quite nice.

Gevonovich - thank you! I'll cop to having good taste in friends, but that's it. ;)

I've carried and posted both of these over the past week, but thought I'd post them here as well.

Thanks Stephen, the Quill Knife was a bonus in a great week, I picked it up in a small jeweller's shop which doesn't usually stock knives. Those are beautiful knives my friend :)

Vince - Nice NYKC Hammers!

Stephen - Great pair of old knives! Love the shield on the H & B. Do you have an "Old Knife Tree" you pick these beauties from?!:D

I might have shown this in a different thread. NYKC Hammer Teardrop
