"Old Knives"

by the way Jamie.... you said that Rem is nothing special!!!!! -thats a really really nice knife my friend.

SPEAKING OF REALLY NICE......
GOt that big ol' Ibberson in the other day, I just could not be happier with it - man the mechanics of this superbly crafted piece is just fantastic, so I thought I would do an stage by stage opening photo shoot of it.
Before I start I just want tio add that the Walk and Talk of the Pruners and Hawkbill are amazing - and Boy - when they lock into the open position - they smack into lock that literally shudders up your arm - tghis is one mean bear trap - and yet the walk and talk are as smooth as silk....... Quality even now at nearly 100 years on.....I am in awe with this knife..( put the jug on - this may take a while :o )

One spring for the Hawkbill - the rest for the Pruners....

Lets open this ol Girl up....

Boom!- You know you have something when your arm literally shudders from the snap of this piece when it locks open....

A week or so before managing to score the beast, I was lucky enough to buy my second only Ibberson ( Jack bought me my first = legend ), and I was so happy when this beautifully built wee advertisement knife turned up, I paid a twenty for it - although it a small metal knife-this thing simply REEKS quality - the slim construction leaves one in amazement when looking at just how tight you can pack a knife together - and to have it work so beautifully ! the wee knife is simply all class in build....

My apologies about the oil all over the knife, I bathed it in Mineral oils for its first week - got a ton of flint and dirt out, and got back the snap and butter smooth Walk and Talk! Lovely full blades, awesome wee Swedges going on there....

Nice knives, Duncan! Is "Highland Nectar" still in business? I've only been fortunate enough to own a couple Ibberson knives. Here's a photo of a sowbelly from 74 that has Stan Shaw's initials in the liners (on the far left). It is similar to the knives that Lyle posted. Btw, there is another version of that pruner that contains a saw as well as a pruning blade.

Great thread and more wonderful knives from blademan13, jdracing, supratentorial, and Campbellclanman, thanks. And neat to see the different shots of the Ibberson pruner!!!

Duncan, beautiful knives! Literally the beauty and the beast, eh? :D There is nothing quite like a solid pull, smooth action and then a mighty THWACK!! as the blade hits full open.

This thread has been really good recently :) Fantastic knives gentlemen

Congratulations Duncan, two great knives there, and many thanks for all the wonderful pics :)

Very nice Sowbelly Jake

Just for something different, how about some pearls? My apologies for the poor pictures

Another Remington. I thought the blood groove was a little over the top for a pearl whittler, but somehow it goes really well with the saber ground blade.

Duncan, check the big Ibberson's liners for Stan Shaw's initial. I think he made that pattern.
