"Old Knives"

And then there's those time warp knives; older, but not yet knowing the joys of getting sharpened, patina-ed and pocket worn:(!
But a nice look back in time, nonetheless;)!

Charlie, I can hear those knives crying all the way here. They are just begging to be put in a pocket, carried, used and sharpened. They left the Case factory looking forward to being used and appreciated. If you really want you knives to be happy, you will send them to me so that I can take care of them properly. You know the saying - if you love something, set it free....

The last two pix didn't open (for me) Kerry, but that bone is really something!

New meaning for the words "Junior Cattle Knife". That is just a beautiful little thing! Small, but doesn't diminish the artistry of NYK.
Kerry, can you produce a picture of it next to a regular sized Cattle knife??
Say 3 5/8"?? That should be a nice graphic comparison!

I don't know John.:cool: They've got friends here now; I think they are pretty happy! Here are a couple of 6318s with punches, an XX and a ten dot, and holdin' them up (and providing a segue) is the daddy pattern of the stockman, a Cattle knife. This one is an XX, and I think even the toughest Case collectors will agree, it's a Redbone.

I'll see what I can do.

Utilizing the segue from my last post, here are some Cattle knives and other equal enders.
Redbones;

And going back a little further, some Greenbones of the same ilk;

Some of you have seen these last two pics before, so I apologize for the redundancy. They did seem to fit the string of Case knives going on here.

Nice Cases Charlie... In the bottom picture the 4th knife down, see the weak stamp. I have a mint Tested with a weak stamp like that. I talked to Tony Foster about it, he told me some Tested were stamped that way and they were certainly legitimate..

Great old knife Lambertiana...

John, that pic works fine! Nice NYK!!
Darrell, Tony looked at mine, and said the same thing!

Wow! is all I can say to that recent group of knives!!!

Here ya go Charlie, 3 different sizes of cattle knives. In order from top to bottom: 2 13/16" NYKCo., 3 7/16" Hibbard/Spencer/&Bartlett, and 3 5/8" Chapman Hand Forged. Unusual for a cattle knife, the HS&B has half stops.

I,ll take the old Chapman what a great old knife. They're all great. I sure like the way the swedges were back cut in the old days. Clip master blades are rare in a cattle pattern are they not?
