"Old Knives"

Clip blades are not seen as often D.P, but there were quite a few. Case often made a Cattle with a clip. What is rare, is the punch blade on its own spring in the NYK!! The (worn) master shares a spring with the spey, and the punch is by its lonesome. First time I've seen that configuration.

Charlie - My NYKC has the same construction; the punch is on it's own spring. It is a small one, only 3 3/8".

Thanks Charlie I seen the main and spey blade on the same spring. I thought it had to be made that way because of the length of the frame being so short. The spey blade would have to be ground pretty thin to pass the punch if it could at all. So the reason for punch being on it's own spring. Lambertiana's 3 3/8" knife probably the same thing applies?

Darrell, I think the spey is on the same spring as the main, not with the punch.

John, is it true??

Nice ones, George. The bone on your "daddy" looks more lustrous than the one on my 1890-1912 vintage. Was it in that condition already or did you treat it to bring back the "warmth"?

Charlie I have edited my post to reflect what I had in mind but didn't type it out as I thought. I don't think well late at night or early either sorry for then confusion. Please re-read my original post and perhaps it will make more sense..

I was going through my old picture file, and found some more Case knives. Bill Howard borrowed this group from me, before he left and started Great Eastern, to use as models for their annual S & M series Redbone. They wanted it to look like the old Case Redbone (without calling it that). It was a big hit. The Greenbone from the following year wasn't nearly as successful.

It's not an old knife, but this is what Queen wound up with after studying those old Case knives. I think they did good!

Looks like they captured the feel quite nicely, Charlie.

Rescued another old dog from the pound. A Keen Kutter breed.

My bags are PACKED!! I will be on the "redeye" to Knifeville!!
Where do you find these things?? Just great; great I tells ya!!

Parker's Knife Show is just over the hill in Sevierville this weekend. Should be some more treats to be found there. This old dog is the 3 3/4" model which I like the best. To be honest tho, I like the feel of the wood over the bone a little better.
