"Old Knives"

I showed the Kabar yesterday but pictures weren't the best. The Pal Cutlery EZ open came in last week but just found time to snap some pictures.

The Pal has beautiful Jigged bone covers that are chip and crack free, solid full blades with no play, just a great old knife:thumbup:

The Pal is tremendous ...wow! The bone is something else and that master is so full!! Teh Ka-bar is outstanding and one of the best I've seen. You have an eye for cutlery and ladies;)

Levering Knife Co. New York 1890-1930. I have had this for sometime, not much info other than it is very near 99% mint and unused. thought I would share with the best I could do with cellphone camera.

I have to agree Harry, yes Pal had some nice bone,as evidenced.

Thanks Lyle, yes I think the camera on the phone is better than I thought, but my photography skills are not. Compared to some of the images here on the forum, it seems somewhat inadequate, but it is better than not sharing. The Levering A1 is truly beautiful and I don't think my images do it justice.

That's a nice one, Paul. The mark side bone almost glows!

Thanks Dean, I agree that the Mark side is a bit electric like:o

Thank you as well Gev, a true compliment coming from one of our vintage knife connoisseurs and I'll pass along the eye for the ladies compliment to Nanc:p

Paul matey, Man That Ka Bar is a real sweetheart - as we discussed, the Bone you'd Swear was the early Case Jigging- man thats a neat knife- topped off with that Match-strike Pull!

But Oh man That Pal!!!! That knife is absolutely fantastic, What a beauty in superb condition - I totally agree with our friend Gev's comments, on the knife- AND the Ladies!

Wow, Robert, that one is just a very special knife, again if you were to compare Bone and jigging, you's swear that was a Miller Bros there.....I love the Rats tail Bolsters Top and Bottom!! Excellent knife as Lyle has said.

Recently acquired.. one of those impulse buys..but so glad I did. It has it's love marks, swirls, scratches, etc.. But dang this thing is well built. Smooth transitions, flush pins, no gaps, and a really nice solid heft to it. Heavier but in a good way then similarly sized GECs. Cattaraugus Swell Center Jack, 3 3/4" closed. Seller said the handles are dark Walnut wood, but looks very similar to ebony to me. The bolsters, handle pins and liners are made of nickel silver. The tang is stamped Cattaraugus Cutlerly Co. Little Valley. From what I understand that means this knife is at least as old as 1963. Would love any further info that more enlightened Cattaraugus collectors might have:thumbup:

My apologies for the random and poor Pics, my 3 year old was very active today lol

Robert, the Levering jack is something new to me, but what a spectacular introduction! Everything about the knife is as good as it gets.

Paul another pair of winners, just amazing. Drew you can't go wrong with this sweet knife.
Robert this fantastic NYKC never seen one in such condition.

WOW and these are in one page... great stuff

There may be a number on the back side of the Tang . If it ends with 6 , the covers would be Ebony . If the number ends in a 7 , the covers would be cocobolo .
Very nice looking old Cattaraugus Drew.

Harry

Thank you Mike! And thank you Harry for that info, I can't see a number but I think it's ebony. It's been in the pocket a few days now :)

I'm way out of date with this friend, but the contributions are as good as ever, great knives folks :)

Charlie, that dog will hunt.I didn't see it for some reason, but looked after I seen a comment.

I'm glad you are still in the collecting business.

That Levering astounds me, not heard of the marque either! Fine shield and complex jigging really set it off, beautiful colour too.

Thanks, Will
