"Old Knives"

John, as always, impressive knives:thumbup:

Fatcity, my all time favorite CASE model, my dad (not a knife nut) gifted me a pristine 1971 version a few years back that he found at a garage sale and I have added a few since. One (a XX era) Travman owns today with unusual dark covers.

This Boker built Sheepfoot Primble came today, a mate to my Spear, now the Clip will be sought after;)

Oh boy, first that great serpentine jack, and now this awesome Primble barlow!

Some real beauties!

Paul beautiful Barlow. How did you identify it as Boker just curious having read that Belknap several makers for their Primble line over the years.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. In Rob's aka (Primble) thread he mentions that Boker made Primbles sport a "star" on their tang stamps. After I learned this I see how Boker and Primble barlows are the same, blade grinds, long pulls and the saw cut on the covers are mirror images of each other.

Glen, you've had a real good couple weeks, love the 10 buck Camillus, what a deal!

Fatcity, nice Case, really hard to believe those are over 50 years old now, I remember when they were new in the store.

Picked up another New York Knife Co serpentine jack, this one is ebony and smaller than the last one I picked up.

Knives like that give me reason to believe that NYKC made my HSB OVB dogleg:

Great info thanks for the education.

Your adding some real treasure to the collection....wow! A star on the tang means Boker...fatcity

Thanks Glenn and Gev, both the Spear and the Sheepfoot I have are rock SOLID. True working barlows:thumbup:

No problem my friend, we all learn bits and pieces from each other and Rob shared that info with me through conversation. Rob, like many others here are a wealth of knowledge:thumbup:

Bunch of nice knives gentlemen, old Case are hardly can be beat, The NYK and HSB are 3 letters that always represent quality And the Primble is eye candy.

Mike

Thank you all. Paul, what a wonderful Primble. Duncan, got to agree with you, those large spears are just so visually appealing and the way the swedge is cut on the ebony one just makes it that much more appealing.
Lambertiana, they sure look like they were made by the same company.
Mike, the few NYKC knives I have in the collection do seem to be high quality.

Couple more I found recently, both bare end jacks, the one is a large 4 1/8 Catt single spear, no pattern number, and the other a Remington 2 blade which someone buffed unfortunately.

When ves were knives and men were men... ;) Before pocket clips, compression locks and one hand openin' designs. An old fashioned Kabaragoya 2 blade Hunter/Clasp knife along with my old school GPS and my fire tin. When I'd go huntin' with the Old Man up in Little Rapids this was what I had on me, minus the wristbands ;) .

Very nice Catt and Remington John:cool::thumbup:

This great old Kabar Jack came today. Covers are worn and beautiful dark brown brown (sorry didn't get a pic of the pile side as its raining) that are chip and crack free. SOLID blades with no play and of course the old knives to me obtain a scary level of sharpness. Medium snap, say 5 or 6ish? which is fine for me.

It's the size of a #74 Mustang. Oops, just noticed two tight hairline cracks. Still a nice old Jack:thumbup:

I 2nd Duncan's assessment. Nice barlows too Paul

Very nice knives being added here. It's a great thread.

I got this 3 1/8" swell-center, equal-end Terrier pen knife yesterday from an Ebay auction.

The handles are not cracked, but have a few scratches. The blades are full with a few spiders and for some reason never got choils cut into them.

Both blades are marked TERRIER / CUTLERY / ROCHESTER, N.Y., there is a dog's head logo on the back of the master and the pattern number 305 / 722 on the back of the pen.

Robeson reversed the number groups on the Terrier knives, so an identical knife with a Robeson mark would be 722305.

Robeson only made Terrier knives from 1910 to 1916, so this knife and every other Terrier marked knife, are now essentially a hundred years old.

Oh my, that's a beautiful Terrier! 100 year old knives are the best!
