"Old Knives"

Augie- I was pleased to see your reference to the Case Razor Barlow in comparison to Charles's knife- Mr. Hilborn gifted me a neat old 6205 with that neat long stepped Bolster. I too thought immediately of Paul's knife that he gifted me when Charles produced his wonderful Barlow.
Again Augie your example is an outstanding knife.

Oh Lloyd!! I can only repeat what my friends have already said - all three are stunning- What a find the CCC Gunstock is. I would have trampled over bodies to get that Peach seed my friend- THAT is an outstanding knife - amazing in every aspect just how good a Cutler can achieve such beautiful results- and the Quality as well !!!

The Mastercraft as well is again a fantastic knife each one is just top shelf imo ... a real classy trio.

Thanks Jamie, James, Paul, Gevonovich, John (huelsdonk), Charlie, Phil, Augie (John) and Duncan for your very nice comments on my classy Trio (as Duncan calls them)! I appreciate you noticing/looking and commenting--much appreciated my friends!

Jamie I would call your two Schrade stockmen a classy duo! That little bit of white paint in some of the bone grooves just adds a measure of authenticity and a "been there done that" kind of look. I am drawn to the cell handled stockmen as I just like celluloid handled knives even given their unpredictable nature:eek: The celluloid looks to be in in very good condition. Lloyd

Jamie, WONDERFUL pair to draw to:thumbup: of course I love the peachseed bone but look at how CRISP that swedge is on the clip of the celluloid knife:thumbup:

Very, very nice:cool:

This old Schrade Cut Co Scout arrived today. Every blade is rock solid and full. The peachseed covers are chip and crack free. I love the thick bail on this old Scout.

All in all it's just one very SOLID knife:cool::thumbup:

Very nice find my friend !!!
How unusual is it that the Bail appears to be made from Strip Stock instead of Bar Stock ?? I am not as familiar with them as you are .

Gev, Jake and Harry, thank you for the nice words. It's a wonderful scout, smooth peachseed in hand and not a bit of play. Of course it took just a scary sharp edge. I'll throw a small piece of leather thru the bail and call it good;)

Harry if strip stock means flat, I agree. I've seen and owned some with flat metal bails before but most are round. The one I'll always regret letting go was a 10th Mountain Infantry issued knife with flat bail and U.S. stamp on it:o

Oh Paul- that's a beautiful old Scout. LOVE that Peachseed. Everything about that knife is fantastic.
Well done my friend.

Dang! That is bee-you-tee-ful!!! Paul, you dawg! You 'sposed ta be workin', not huntin' down gorgeous old knife specimens like that'un.

I am jealous. ;)

Wonderful examples, blademan and Paul.
Some great bone handles and nice features like the match-strike pull on the Stockman, and neat old style flat bail on the camper model.

Jamie I really like single spring two blade folders. So slim like you say--they just disappear in your pocket. Great the way those two blades are tucked away in there so neat and cozy like. Beautiful vintage folder and those stag handles aren't bad either:D Lloyd

What is the closed length of your Ulster?

Mighty fine Ulster, Jamie!
Ulster went through some periods of making exceptional knives!!
The rest of the time they were pretty good too!
