"Old Knives"

I hadn't popped by here for a couple days. Good stuff, thanks for sharing it guys.

Paul - Outstanding scout. I love that bone.

Jamie - Great Ulster. It's always great to see that old stag in such good shape.

Phil - Wow. Awesome knives. I'm personally kind of smitten with the cattle knife, but they're both such great examples.

Here is a Henckel's Sportsman Knife I recently acquired. You can find this listed on pg 269 of Levine's IV.

Charles, that one just does it for me!!! Fits nicely with some of your gentleman knives, only one that's ready for anything. Very cool Sir! -James

J. A. Henckels offered quite a range of pearl handled knives from the late 1800s through WWII.
Enclosed is an 18 blade version.

Thank you kind Sir- not quite in the Caliber as this though- but that's what is so grear about we here in BF - where sharing each other's knives and thoughts is such a experience for the gaining of knowledge of these awesome old knives.

WOW Neal, what a Henkels!!! Hard to fathom the craftsmanship in such a small knife...jeweler quality right there, thank you for sharing:cool::thumbup:

What an amazing specimen, herder! What is the closed length on this one. It's interesting that most were in the three to three and a quarter inch range. Such a treat to see :D

Another incredible Henckels Mike.
Mike too has shared with us some absolute knock-out Henckels in the past- Oh to be a fly on the wall during one of Mikes "oil'em up" days!

Thanks all for the nice comments.
The 18 blade Henckels is 3 inches long and that folding tool is a pencil, supratentorial.
While a good quality folding knife sold for about $1.00 to $3.00 in the early 1900s, that pearl 18 blade folder sold for over $10.00.

Glad you liked 'em Jake. I would also like to commend Herder on getting all 18 blades open on that knife for his picture. No easy task

Thanks Duncan. I don't buy very many Henckels anymore but I think most of them are in this thread. I'm happy to see others' appreciation for them. I've already posted this Chicago Worlds Fair knife in a separate thread but adding it here:
