"Old Knives"

Jamie, both the Schrades and the Ulster you posted are very nice, great examples of vintage knives.

Paul, that Scout is a beauty also, nice find.

Thanks, gents.

That pile side stag is to die for. Funny how often that seems to happen on vintage stag knives, they seemed to have favored the less figured stag for the mark side to simplify the inletting of the shield perhaps?

Wow, thought I posted this earlier but Jamie, a wonderful pen Ulster and John that Bartlett is AMAZING!!!

Thank you all for the nice comments on the old Schrade Scout:thumbup:

Just got this spectacular old Empire cattle knife!

Phil, what wonderful knives, very nice additions to your collection, that Empire is beautiful.

Thank you, Paul and John! I feel very fortunate to have come across these Empires. A fine brand that you don't see too often (I blame Charlie :D).

Phil,
Wonderful knives. I have always thought Empire's were about as good a knife as was made in the day. Sadly, you just don't stumble upon many of the nice examples. Kudos for scoring a pair!

Philllll!!!

Stunning knives. I love the Bone - well absolutely everything about those knives actually.
You have amassed a stunning Collection my friend.

Nice scores, Philllll!
Empire may have spent some time as the largest, most successful Cutlery, over the turn of the last century. You can see why.
I don't think anyone used their signature shield (on the punch knife) until Schrade adopted it after WWII, for some special editions. They called it the Empire shield!!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

I was admiring that shield earlier today and thinking about how I'd never seen it before. Very interesting tidbit about that, Charlie! You have so much insight into the old Empires, you should write a book. I'm serious!

Phil, that Empire! Beauties, thanks for sharing them.

Awesome knives Philll. Empires are very special. Congrats. Could you please post a pic of the back of the splitspring one? And yes Charlie should write a book on Empires.
