"Old Knives"

Thanks LongBlade. Glad you like 'em!

Wonderful collection, Lloyd!!

Lloyd my friend- what a Amazing group of stunning knives!!!

Charlie- oh be still my beating heart- .... actually no don’t be too still - but that trio of Stag is doing things to me
I can’t quite pick my favourite of the three the Top example has such an amazing Hue to that Stag - the middle is perfect in every way - but then I look at the third ( bottom) knife and think that you just couldn’t get better in any way !!!!
What do I do !!!!! I can’t take this anymore

Thanks for the nice comments on the old Boker "Senator" model. Will Power, It has a handle length of 3-1/4 inches, and Paul H. yes, I have seen double bolster pins before on some very old German knives, but not common.

Three beautiful stag handled Jacks, waynorth.

Gorgeous group of pearls, Luger.

(repeated from Sat. Stag thread)
You can often find a Senator or Pen knife, or other smaller patterns with Genuine Stag (GS) handles, stamped/from Schrade Cut. Co, but it is much harder to find Regular Jack knives
in (GS). Here are three!
One is from the Schrade Display wall, dismantled after they closed. One is from a Salesman's Sample Case, and one served at least one other owner for some years.
The pattern number is 2219 GS; It's 3 1/2" long.
2=2 blades, 21= pattern number, 9=misc. handles, GS=Genuine Stag.
The other hieroglyphics mean I have to send the knife to Paul Hilborn!!!:rolleyes:
:D

I was wondering what Duncan was tripping about.. OMG Charlie  Thanks for the look at heaven

Thank you herder and Gev! It would be great if current cutlers could get a steady supply of good stag, so they could bring back some of that nice old fitting.
Stags drop their antlers every year for Criminy Sakes!! It just requires responsible management, IMO!! (Like everything else I guess!)

It's going to be even worse when I put them back in!
Here's an IXL senator that's 3 3/8s closed.

The craftsmanship on these is just fantastic. The blades nest together perfectly.

Mike, Rob, Lee & Gev with their beautiful MOP folders has inspired me to post a photo of some of my favorite MOP examples. From left to right: Dartt & Co. Warranted, Robeson, Richards & Conover & J Russell GRW.View attachment 788588 View attachment 788587 View attachment 788581 View attachment 788580 View attachment 788579

Lloyd - those are just super looking MOP examples   ... and a Robeson gunstock in MOP is just awesome :) ... The Russell is not far behind (a nice score in MOP for sure and one of my favorites in cutlery) but I think they are all just what we all want :) ... Thanks for sharing them!!

Thanks Jamie, Charlie, Duncan, Gev, Herder and Longblade for your kind comments on the MOP examples I posted!!

Sorry Charlie and Herder but I missed your posts on page no. 645 initially!

Charlie those genuine stag handled Schrade Jacks are just outstanding and gorgeous!! They are in just such nice unmessed with collector condition. You have an unparalleled knack or ability of finding just not rare vintage folders but then in such high grade condition. You have a nose for the "good stuff" my friend:D!!

Herder that antique Boker Whittler is so very desirable and in such fine condition for a pre Civil War folder it just boggles the mind:eek:!! I love the looks of that knife. That is a centerpiece/highlight kind of knife in any fine Knife collection!

This thread is just the best collection of highly sought after vintage knives on the internet or anywhere for that matter! Keep them coming my friends and thank you.

The Stag on those 3 make a Stag Lover , such as I , a little weak in the knees . They are all very nice to see my friend .

In all my years of tramping around the woods, I only have one shed antler to show for it. You have to stumble upon them right away. Their high mineral content means that mice and other rodents eat them in a matter of days.

That is interesting, Amir. I suppose there is an art to timing the fall of antlers - it is certainly seasonal (annual), never mind finding prime locations. But I am just an ignorant city kid!!

Thanks to all who "liked" my Stags! They are as hard to find as "sheds"!
:D

Hello gentlemen,
I was wondering if you could help me with this Keen Kutter peanut I recently aquired. God knows it's not much, it deffinitely has seen better days. Could anyone please tell me who made it and when? The jigging looks like peachsead, so I think it's basically a Schrade 272 with a Keen Kutter shield and tang stamp? I couldn't take a good photo of the tang stamp, it's a plain with only Keen Kutter stamped inside the symbol (the internet suggests it's 1985 or later, which doesn't really make it old and if that's the case I apologize for posting it here; the knife looks older to me although that might be just due to the condition ...).

I'm not certain but agree with your Schrade assessment. I like that little knife:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, it was a mess when I got it. Cleaned it up real good and now it's getting pocket time. It will be with me on All Saints' in a couple of days. My first knife with a long pull. :D
