"Old Knives"

Mike, Jamie, Gev, Steve, S-K, Charlie... apologize if I missed someone:) Nice knives:thumbsup:

Here's the "Not so purdy" entry, yet she's a looker to me. Shortened and reprofiled main, pen appears normalish? But beat up and wonderfully aged sawcut bone. This old girl reminds me of a well worn and comfortable pair of jeans:thumbsup:
A circa 1932-1955 Queen Barlow. Blades are solid with no play and get to that "Man that's sharp!!!" level:thumbsup:

It has that special something indeed Paul !!

That Queen "copperhead" style bolster gives the knife "sunk joints", Paul; I am sure that is the purpose!! Way too much class for a humble Barlow!!
(p.s. nice knife!!):)

Duncan, Imperial Schrade absorbed Ulster - so are those cattle knives Schrade-made Ulsters, or Ulster-made Schrades, marked Ulster??
:D
One of them is etched "Craftsman"!

Schrade 2OT. This was a project knife. I put in a last nanosecond low bid on a broken 2OT. When I went for the commit button, my finger brushed the 3. I stared at the screen for several seconds trying to figure out how I had bought this for double my bid until I realized what I had done. So I contacted the one guy I know who could possibly make it right, EA42, and he said he'd give it a shot. It was a rusty, broken back springed junker and now its got walk and talk, and good looks too.View attachment 787849 View attachment 787850 View attachment 787851
robbobus, I knew I forgot someone in my post...LOVE that 2OT (as well as the others you pictured) Eric did a wonderful job:thumbsup::cool:

Charlie- Thank you- DING! memory light came back on - I remember a discussion a while ago on this.

Paul- Yes...I too forgot to mention the Great looking 20T of Robobuss's - nice save on an awesome Knife and you couldnt get a better person than Eric to do the Job I would say!

So many great knives posted by all and lots of beauties but a bounty of Ulsters to the max :)- I just can't keep up at the moment with too much going on for me.... and this great thread moves fast!!

It's going to be even worse when I put them back in!

You have good taste Lee! Thanks all.

WOW, sensory overload guys!!! :)
Mike R. - Fantastic Pearl IXL with a "Senators Knife" blade stamp!!! Very few knives exist with a "Senators" stamp on the blade, and most that do (including yours) are from the 1800s.
blademan13 - Outstanding pearl Remington.
Gevonovich - Two wonderful pearl gentleman's knives.
SteveC - Good looking Camillus Barlow.
smiling-knife - beautiful stag Needham Bros.
waynorth - You just continue to amaze us with your rare and wonderful knives!!!
robbobus - nice varied group of knives.
Paul H. - Wonderful character in that fine old Queen Barlow.
Longblade - Another exceptional and beautiful old Johnathon Crookes with a "Senators Knife" blade stamp. Odd though that it is a Congress pattern and many old Congress knives had a "Congress" blade stamp.

Here is a German Boker whittler which is similar to a "Norfolk" pattern and has a "Senators Knife" blade stamp. This old Boker pre-dates the American Civil War.

Pretty special herder, the knife, it's age and outstanding condition for it's age (not at all like Duncan):p
Question as to the two bolster pins? Me thinks, one is for the bolster and one as the pivot pin?

(repeated from Sat. Stag thread)
You can often find a Senator or Pen knife, or other smaller patterns with Genuine Stag (GS) handles, stamped/from Schrade Cut. Co, but it is much harder to find Regular Jack knives
in (GS). Here are three!
One is from the Schrade Display wall, dismantled after they closed. One is from a Salesman's Sample Case, and one served at least one other owner for some years.
The pattern number is 2219 GS; It's 3 1/2" long.
2=2 blades, 21= pattern number, 9=misc. handles, GS=Genuine Stag.
The other hieroglyphics mean I have to send the knife to Paul Hilborn!!!:rolleyes:
:D

Thanks to all for the comments on the Crookes Congress   ... To me it is a match in the blades and bolster (even MOP and bar shield) to Mike's Wostenholm and the Senator etch to boot :D .. though Mike's knife would be considered a 4 blade senator if I am not mistaken in pattern style whereas Crookes did my knife in a congress pattern.. really interesting!!

Herder - I was surprised as well when I saw the Senator etch on a Congress knife but did some background work & spoke with a few other collectors for my own education before I grabbed it :) ... Mike's knife along with this one is just another cool example but more rare to see the Senator etch from my understanding and as alluded to by you...

Hard to beet a Jonathan Crookes tang stamp ... I agree Jamie.

Off the Charts, Lee....wow !!!!
Shown below is it's sous chef :D
