"Old Knives"

Thanks to - Jack (great pruners and love your Harrison 301), waynorth (Beautiful Sword Brand), Augie (Great Camillus Deluxe Stockman and one I have not seen before), Ramrodmb (We should start the IXL TYNE club :), Gevonovich (Always appreciate your astute observations), Galvanic (so many incredible knives), and smiling-knife (another from your fine Sheffield collection).
And some wonderful knives from others as well!!!

They certainly are worthy of further investigation, if only for the all brass handle and hawkbill design. They turn up on line now and again, but not so often as they once did. The other odd brass handled Sheffield knife, the Cold Finger pattern is also seldom seen of late.

I've not yet picked up a Cold Finger, the name always makes me laugh though :)

Nice Brass-handled knives, v_p! First one I have seen with a punch!
(too bad it's tipped, but it still proves a metal-handled HJ exists!!

I've been pretty fortunate to find some pretty cool old metal-handled knives... got this one last week, single blade Jaeger Bros (Aerial Cutlery)... I'm a fan of the old westerns so I had to have this knife

That's interesting, I had no idea that there was a Rough Rider copy so I Google searched it and found they sell it on Walmart.com for $11.86 LoL... see thumbnail pic below. Doesn't quite look as nice as the Jaeger Bros version though ;)

Cool ! got a link to your picture ?

See if this works o_O Click on the links below...

Great thread  I've been collecting for a little over a year now and was gravitated to the old knives so I have very few "shiny new" knives in my collection but have many old Ulsters, Schrade Cut Co and NYKC's; looks like I found a new home here if you will have me :) I will offer up this Ulster Dwight Divine & Sons for an entry fee...

Anybody have a better idea on year for this one? 1876-1941 is pretty vague... I'm guessing celluloid means 1900-1941 and the blade has a faint etch that is a diamond inside of a circle logo between the words "Extra Quality".

A Henkle & Joyce Hardware Co (Lincoln, NE 1900-1932) equal end pen with a "Woodmen Accident" etch on main. and a ML Cutlery Co. 3 blade pen (I an still looking for info on ML Cutlery). I believe that the etch on the H&J refers to the Woodmen of the World fraternal organization and their mutual insurance subsidiary, which were founded in Omaha, NE in 1882 (a bit before H&J).

Very cool Stuart, I love the old hardware knives! I've got a couple Gambles Hardware ones I will have to post.
