"Old Knives"

View attachment 850570 View attachment 850571 Have not had time with my new schedule to do much more than a quick visit here and there. As always a host of beautiful knives presented this week. I don't think I have posted this knife here but I could be wrong. Going to have to work on my collection if I am going to continue to contribute here. :) I'm real fond of this Crucible Knife Co.
More proof that Crucible made fabulous knives !!

Charlie and Herder

Man o man what a treat of your big beautiful hunters !! Two different examples of how wondrous they can be...glorious.

Gevonovich, Wonderful scout and I completely agree. Of the handful that I have had the opportunity to see, all had wonderful jigging and a depth to the bone coloring that I have seldom seen in my limited experience.

Dave, gorgeous knife. Thanks for sharing!!!

I am constantly on the lookout for more.

Kool Crucible's Your Govono-ness and Lostball :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I believe I have one to add:D

Got this Ulster Knife Co. from a friend today! At only 2 7/8", it has a much bigger presence!!
Nice details squeezed into a small package!!

Great showing, I don't have an Crucible to add - but Thank you guys!
Lostball and Dave.... absolutely lovely Jacks Gentlemen.

Great Scout Gev, I just bought a few Scouts today actually ( ouch ) so it was nice to see that one pop up, I bought a NY, Empire, couple of Schrade Peach Seed) etc.
Interesting Bone Gev- now gloing from what I can only see in the photo- there is a big ( what seems a natural) dip in the Bone- and they have kept that in? I dont see a almost exact repitive pattern in the jig work...ahhh my mind goes straight to the question, I wonder if Hand Jigged? I hipe to be able to learn one day to tell - if only there was a reference to such a topic!

Nice Utica Charlie- Drop Dead Gorgeous Stag on the Ol' Girl!
Beautiful Knives friends!

I have been absent from this, my favorite thread of late with an occasional drop in from time to time. My direction changes every now and again with my pursuits being recent GEC releases. My heart however lies here and what a pleasure to see what's been posted. I have a vintage beauty I picked up at the rendezvous last year that I'll have to show here:thumbsup:

Herder that stag on that knife has what draws you to art. I can’t tell you what it is, but it has it.

Nice Crucibles fellas. I had a small yellow cell, but for several reasons,I don’t know where it is now.

Great double bladed pruner Charlie, stag looks like the Ulster farmers jack. I guess for good reason. Grin

Wonderful Crucible examples from Lostball, Gevonovich, and Knowtracks. If I didn't know better, I'd think these knives were common. :)
Great curved Ulster, waynorth.
Glad to see you back here Paul, and look forward to your picture.
wlfryjr, I love pretty much every handle material, but stag usually takes the cake for me.

Here is an old A. Field easy open model which was a contract knife from Schrade Cut. Co. (and has the notably nice Schrade peach seed bone handles).
A. Fields has roots dating back to the mid 1800s and were gone around WWII. They never produced any of their own knives, but carried several brands.
They were best known for being the sole United States agents for Joseph Rodgers during the first half of the 20th century.

Smashing Ulster Knife Co, Charlie ! Is that a gem or what...wow !!!! I'll be dreaming of one now  An SFO ;)

Duncan
I am holding my breath waiting to see you scouts !!!! Empire...NY...Peaches :eek::eek:

Oh my friend- unfortunately it will be a while until you or I see them - although our friend and my Post Master Mr. Paul Hilborn will see them way before us.
The knives are far from mint - but I would call them nice to very nice knives and they will be welcome additions to my scouts here in NZ.
It’s always so hard being in NZ - I pay a lot more because of the strength ( or should I say weakness ) of our dollar against the Euro or Greenback- then on top of that the shippings a killer - THEN - on top of that you have to wait lol ....so it’s challenging- but so so rewarding  :D

Herder my friend/ Fantastic Alfred Field Schrade - what a great Knife!
