"Old Knives"

Thanks Longblade, Paul, Charlie and Herder for your kind comments on my Robeson PocketEze—much appreciated!!

You are welcome, Lloyd!!
Here's another batch of smaller, old knives! They measure from 3" to just under 3 3/8".
I guess in some universe you could call them "Junior Jacks", but they are not necessarily Boys knives, which are usually simpler/cheaper knives.
From top to bottom they are stamped:
Schrade Cut Co.
Crucible Knife Co.
Schrade Cut Co.
Case XX USA
Schrade Cut Co.
Schrade Cut Co.

I guess you recognize my SCC bias?!:)

Nice looking T.Turner, herder!!
I wonder how many people on that Steamer had a T.Turner in their pocket?

I agree with Charlie N!
Charlie C - my friend, lovely grouping of outstanding smaller Jacks.
Often the smaller Knives get passed by- or it may have been the case sometime ago- but I doubt that stands now- Super High Class Knives - it’s hard to pick a favourite- very hard in fact.

Herder matey - that Turners is outstanding! Sometime ago I posted some very big Navy / Rope Knives - early ones - one of which is a Turners Encore with the exact Tang Stamping.
That Knife is in incredible condition and as you stated - not often if ever gave I seen a Turner of that pattern.
Stunning!

Charlie ,again collection beauties.

Herder, that's a quality knife. We need those Thomas Turner Catalog pages that we lost in the sticky. I captured the one that represented my interest, wish I had gotten them all.Thomas Turner gardeners jpg.jpg

Thomas Turner 4 1/8" if memory serves. About 1/8" above standard farmers jack length.

Here's an oldie I picked up not long ago.
It is an old lockback that appears top be marked ZIRIAX on the face of the blade. I can only see the top of the name because the rest has come off. It's 5 1/2" closed and the steel ground nicely. All of the hardware is iron I think and the handles are ebony or some other dark wood. I also found an old 1887 Albany NY directory and on page 267 there is a JM Ziriak list as a cutler and surgical instrument maker. On the back side of the knife the handle the date 1877 is scratched crudely in it.

Lyle, the Clements is an absolute beauty!

I have never heard the ZIRIAX name before but that does not stop it from being a splendid knife. I have a weak spot for the long and slender types :D

Nice Mike. We like those big hunters, especially old lockbacks with rare stamps.
I should have bought that Excelsior Roger got from you a couple years ago.. That is a nice knife, but my buying power has diminished over the last few years.:)

Probably should be thinning the herd ,instead of adding stock.

Thanks Jamie

Ziriax!! Another name crawls out from under the woodwork!!!
Cool knife, Mike!!

That Clements is a killer, Lyle!! Cool pattern and Darkened Stag!!

Lyle, eat less and buy more knives - that's the ticket!!:D

Some fine old knives from V. P., waynorth, and Luger, thanks for the pictures guys.
Thank you for your contributions H herder and everyone in the Old Knives thread! I don't think I would enjoy collecting as much if I didn't have this forum to share pictures of my old treasures... I honestly thought I was crazy when I just started accumulating old knives. I was starting to give up on it until I found the "Old Knives" thread here. I started at page 1 and went through every page... after page 600, I realized I wasn't alone LoL :D It stinks that so many pictures were lost but still quite a few dating back 9 years now. I think Charlie waynorth waynorth got the fire started with this post on Page 2 and he is still sparking the thread :)
