"Old Knives"

Boy, there are some mighty fine (amazing, actually) knives being posted. I discovered this slim little (3.25") fellow in the (jigged) bone pile today: Schatt & Morgan barehead (1902-1928).

Very nice group of Schrade models, V.P., but that teardrop folder is extra sweet. :)

Great old Henckels, Misplaced Hillbilly. That's one of my favorite patterns with a stag Wharncliffe handle and a saber/clip main blade in a whittler configuration.
That was a very popular model for Henckels and had a run of over 60 years.

Hey Kev- Stunning my friend- I simply cannot add more compliments in the fear of repeating someone’s kind words for those knives! Just Wow factor going on here right now.
Hillbilly my friend - I can’t blame you for being excited over that Whittler - I own just a few Henckel Knives and one of them being my favourite is the same patterned Whittler- also a Stag example.

Extremely stout spine that main has when you see the knife closed! That’s one beautifully engineered knife!

Just picked this one up, fairly certain its an oldie, J.A. Henkels whittler, already hit 2 other threads with it lol . sorry for over doing it just got a bit excited:p
Oh, I'd be mighty excited too! What a sturdy whittler, and I love the way the figuring goes all the way to the bolsters. Top notch!

I recently picked up a nice Cut Co jack in butter & molasses (my weakness!). Some blade loss, but otherwise excellent condition.

K suffix for butter & molasses cell.
Very cool! I generally avoid buying celluloid handled knives, and might should get rid of the few I do have...and yet I picked up this butter & molasses the other day.

It's a very interesting color scheme. I tend to think about celluloid being used either to simulate a natural material, or to take advantage of its ability to look bright and sparkly. Is there some story about the origin of the b&m cell? Perhaps invented over a breakfast meeting? ;):D
