"Old Knives"

Here's a 3 5/8 closed New York Knife Co. "official" BSR 1 scout knife. Levine's guide says that NYK Co. was the official scout knife maker until 1922, which included having "be prepared" on the shield. There are faint salesman sample numbers on the back of the main blade. Kevin posted this link on scout knives on the previous page, which includes a section on NYK Co. scout knives.

Incredible condition. What a glorious example.

Mike I wonder if thats the same one I have been eyeing up?
Buying a New York Scout with that Punch ( Spiraled is quite hard), I bought a Buffalo Bill Scout with Clip Point with the non Spriled Punch- and just missed out on the exact Buffalo Bill WITH that Spiraled punch - both were quite pricey.

That Scout is simply stunning! I am sure I may have one like that- with the "BS1 official " stamping...lets have a looksee, although it wont be anywhere near your gorgeous example my friend - just Wow factor and what a joy to look at!

Had to bring this one over the page- it's just too fantastic to leave behind!

Great looking knife Duncan, and great pics as well. I can see why it is one of your favorites.
I have been following scout knives on eBay lately, so maybe we were looking at some of the same ones. The posts here and on the scout thread have been most helpful to me of late.

Both of you have incredible NYK's. The top quality of both knives is very evident.

Thanks guys- but Mikes one!!!!

Those New York Knives are certainly something special, to be able to score a Knife like that would simply blow me away, and this is what makes me so grateful when we have some amazing Collectors whom share their outstanding knives with us...so so lucky we are!

Thank yo for sharing that absolutely gorgeous Knife with us Mike- it just make us keep that fire stoked up for sure!

Wow, so many fine scout knives in fine condition. Thanks for showing them, guys!

All I have to show after a day of scouring the junk shops this afternoon is an old pruner. It's in rough shape, but I think I can get it in user condition.

Chipaway Cutlery Co.
Chipaway Cutlery made for E.C.Simmons from 1891 to 1907, according to Levine's Guide.
Goins says the end date was closer to 1920.
Nice find!!

Yeah - Cool Find of an old Stamp R8shell!

Heres a knife that certainly is far from purdy, but it's a big Knife at 4 & 1/4 inches long with not the best Bone in the World, but I think it's nice Bone- quite a attractive Knife with that Shield as well.
That amazing Boker book by Neal Punchard and Ricky Ray places this big ol' Equal Ender 1914 - 1941 with that Shield. I thought that the Stamp of the Boker Tree may have been earlier - but its hard to see the stamping.
This Knife has - as you can see a fair bit of use- but lots of Steel left and I have a feeling that this Big Jack and I will get to know each other well in the future!

Another Boker a Square Stamped Sleevboard - nice Knife actually- when you look at the Jog work carefully, it's actually very very nice Bone that is in good condition, not the rarest Boker out there by all means, but a nice Knife...Boker by Neal Punchard places this knife 1935 - 1942. at 3 & 3/4 inches its a nice sized Knife.

Thank you, I sure do like finding the odd, old knives. :)

Duncan, those are fantastic Bokers, especially that big equal-end. I don't know how you can say it's not purdy. Maybe Handsome is a better word. That is a very handsome knife!:D:thumbsup:

Duncan, the second smaller one looks like the jigging on the Black Box Winchesters of the late 1980s.

Thank you R8shell - I know what you mean - yeah .... it certainly is that!

Jeff - you read my mind on that my friend - very busy Jig Work- there were a lot of variables in the Bkack Box Winchester Knives with the Jigging.

Thank you Gev matey. Oh yes those Hammer Brands - Whew!!! They KNEW how to do it didn’t they!
