"Old Knives"

Thank you Gev and Steve.
These are the only ones I have seen - ( so far ) we tend to see the E/O Spear Point from Pal a lot more so than the Clip Points in this size and frame.

From what I can see when comparing the E/O’s and the Clip Points they seem to have been manufactured the same era as each other.

Gev’s having the nice variation of being an Equal Ender with Matchstrike Pull, Gev I suspect that yours may also be larger?. :)

Nice one Charlie. :D

Nice !

Heres something very interesting- well..ok to me this is very interesting and I hope so for you too!

Now and then we see the Christopher Johnson ( Flag Knives come up in the Grapefruit Knife or Ettrick etc, I saw this on our local site- couldn't make out with the terrible photos what it was- was this a home made thing from a broken pocket knife?- bought it very cheap just to see
!

Well was I surprised by the package that followed- it's a fairly well sized Fixed Blade- pretty old with a tapered Tang very thick knife with meaty Swage work, also stamped with the Western Works, Sheffield, I did read that the Western works were of earlier times? - man I am very pleased with this buy! something very very different!
I always like seeing earlier Knives with showings of imperfect workmanship- as there wasn’t a calling for it in the manufacturing for what would be a hard use tool.
If you want - take the time and have a look at the Tang and the unevenness of this- kinda cool imo.
Never seen one before at all - Have you?

Cool knife, it would be right at home at our annual grape harvest. I like the tapered tang. This brand started in 1865, and Goins says that Flag Knife is one of their older markings.

Thank you Mike, Charlie and Lambertiana.

I think it’s Pretty cool as well - CJ tended to be quite inconsistent with the use of Flag Knife and also the Western Works - I am sure there’s a pattern that I have not been educated on with their Tang Stams.
FBFB

I know, I know!! FBFB borders on the absurd, with initializing everything!! But someone will do a thread on it some time!! EJ, FJ, HJ, CE & CF to quote a few!!
Ha Ha!!:)

Great old fixed blade knife, Campbellclanman. While it could be a pruner, I think it is a "Docker's Knife" which was used to trim the tails of sheep.
Enclosed is a similar model from Christopher Johnson which dates to early post WWII. I think yours is a pre-war model.
Although the catalog illustration shows a straight edged blade and yours is curved, I have seen "Docker" knives with curved blades. Neat knife with neat blade stamps!!!
