"Old Knives"

Your Pocket Knife is a pattern what they call a "Lobster" Pattern, Lobsters usually have either the 3 like yours or the 4 blades.
Silver? Im not too sure on that one- usually Silver will have Hallmarks - it may most probably be Nickel Silver.

Nice tidy Henckels - probably from the 50's to 60's era.

Thank you!! That’s super helpful. I was thinking silver because of the way it was tarnishing and that “835” stamp on it.

Here is an old New York Knife Co. with a pretty unique blade etch.
It reads "Carpenters Knife" with a picture of their famous "arm and hammer" near the tang.

That’s a real neat pattern. Love the swage on the sheepsfoot blade and how the wooden covers are nicely rounded off at the frame/liners! And a big ol shield to boot.:thumbsup: Interesting unique etch too, like you said.

Thanks everyone for the nice compliments on the New York Knife Co. Carpenters model.
Luger1952, thanks for posting that NYK page from the re-print book. There are so many beautiful models shown in that catalog which will make your head spin. :)

Nice knife! I have seen Carpenter's knives in catalogs, but never a real specimen.

Here is one similar (iron bolsters and liners) in this poor image from a 1902 catalog:

And here is a sibling, almost certainly made by NYKC (even has the same etch, sans the arm & hammer) from the 1886 HSB catalog:

Thanks, Lambertiana and Paul.
And thanks Lambertiana for posting those great catalog cuts. Just incredible how much work and detail went into those old knives.
