"Old Knives"

It is indeed a FOREST * KING. John!! I talked to the guy who sold it to you, who is my friend in Winsted:D!! He is an Empire expert!! He had family in that historic Cutlery!!

Glenn, Charlie, thank you guys, agree that it’s Forest King, wish the whole etch was there but finding a knife this old with any remaining etch is a plus.

Here are some fixed blade knives, that have a certain antiquey goodness that make them irresistible to me, even though they don't fold!
I admit to my prejudice toward the hinged knife, but I like these hanging around in my life!!:D
From the left; A Wostenholm&son Pruner, a Case XX clip paring knife and a Schrade Walden Florist's Sheepfoot!
Fixed-blade folders??;);)

Yeah, Cal; they're nice - when they hang out on my desk or workbench, or in the kitchen! But they don't work well in my pocket!!:D

Love the fixed blades Charlie - it’s very cool having these great old knives in the House isn’t it! :)

Cal - your collection of fixed Blades is stunning and there’s just a couple of very nice ones!:thumbsup:

I had previously posted this one , but I have noticed a few things about it that I had not seen before . This old knife is made better than I had previously thought . I just wish that it had the Manufacturer's name on it . Shown with a couple of newer Stags to keep it on it's edge .

Spring and Blade Tang ends are Square in Closed and Half/Stop positions .
It has Integral Bolsters . In this photo it looks like one of them is not , but with a magnifying glass it looks solid.
The Spring is Flush with the Liners in all 3 positions .

Harry That is stunning Stag to say the least.
Some time ago I said I would take photo's of my Older Carving knives / sets, Harry you told me off nicely for teasing :) as I said one day I will post em up, so about a year later I have them.
Not too sure why these sets dont get more of a following, there is just as much in the way of fine manufacturing of these as there is with any other fixed Blade, and at times there are sets out there that are Stunning!
To have a beautiful big Roast sat out on a Serving Tray, ten to carve it up with some magnificent Cutlery seems to be a thing of the past :-(, I just cant seem to go by these, in a way I hope I dont stop, the problem is the room needed to display if ever?

The question - is this the Place to show them, the age will be acceptable, but are others interested at all?

I'd like to see them. As you have observed, some of those old carving sets were really fine cutlery.

I would like to see the carving set also. It would also be cool to,see if anyone ever got a Randall Made carving set they made way back when.

Who knew there was mail on Sunday, brought me a very nice Cattaraugus toenail 22929, full blades, been cleaned but edges not rounded, very nice Indian Trail bone. Was happy to obtain this one, most of this pattern seem to be very beat up.
