OMG...I finally got a SNG STRIDER...I hope its worth it!

bf has a reputation for being anti-strider but dont let them sway you.

Striders are for taking things apart. PERIOD. And they excel at their intended purpose. .....If you want a nice looking, and strong folder with great f&f, then get a sebenza. I have a custom one and i love it. But if you want a hard use wrecking bar then get a strider.

Was Mick in jail hell yeah. Does that make him a bad person. No i dont think it does. Mick strider seems like a truly nice individual. And i will beleive all this crap when i see hard copies of the documents in question. Its slanderous. I hang out on the strider forums and i dont think mick acts too terribly obnoxious. As for him being "shady", i think id be considered shady. Does that make me a bad person? I mean he isnt sustaining his life on the blood of newborn infants so why do people so adimantley dislike him?

And for his criminal convictions, MORE POWER TO HIM. He got out of jail. He owns his own company. And he makes a decent living. Why does anyone care that he spent time in prison????? It doesnt matter in the least.

Ill get off of my soap-box now.

BladeForums MAY have a reputation on the Strider Forums for being-anti Strider, I would not know for sure. BladeForums has a reputation in GENERAL of being fair, honest, and serious about quality bladeware, bringing in comments from some of the best in the field.(Fisk, Bradshaw, Lombardo, Foster, Glesser......). That being offered, what does that say about you, razorsdescent?:

It makes you a Strider apologist, one who can't spell or punctuate for crap.;)

It means that your feedback is not in the slightest bit objective.

I love how the apologists come out of the woodwork when one of their own, poor, misunderstood misfits is challenged in an open format.:grumpy:

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

yeah I see how the lockup is, I get it this Friday. If its too bad I'll send it back to the dealer...

Razorsdescent, please try to remember what forum you are in and use appropriate language for this forum.

You might also consider visiting W&C, where you can speak as you please.

Now I suppose I have to edit those last two posts for you, though I hate to spoil the poetry of it all....

jimmy123,

What you are feeling is "cognitive dissonance" and you are trying to reduce it.

Did I make the right choice?

You can read all of these posts and still wonder. What it comes down to is:

Do you like the knife and does it do what you want it to do? Let us know how you like it.

-I am still trying to figure out how Mad Dog got into this post?

Well its almost not that, because I have done the appropriate research before I bought the knife. I was just wondering what personal experiences people had with their knives to know the limits and hear more stories of the quality i always hear about. One thing is fore sure, the knife is built like a tank and thats what I wanted.

Yeah they are built like a tank. I cant say much as to the QC issues. I only have a mick strider Slcc, but its top notch. I think youll be happy with your purchase.

For what it's worth, my Strider AR came out of the UPS box with two small dents in the handle. Within days the thumbstuds were spinning within the handle. I mailed the knife to Strider Knives for repair on July 1st. My knife was returned to me on July 10th. Since I am away from home, my father is mailing the knife to me. I will probably receive it Thursday. At that time I can say how well they did. My point is that even though there were some minor QC issues, Strider Knives quickly repaired the knife. The swift repair is even more impressive given that the entire process occurred during a major holiday.

Just out of curiosity, did you pay $15 for the return shipping?

OilMan,

Yes, I did. I followed the return instructions on their website to the letter.

So for the knife you payed cost of knife + shipping to you + expense of mailing it back + time of mailing it back + $15

Which is fine for some people, I personally would find that unacceptable, not good customer service.

So in a nustshell you get to pay $15 and your time to be their QC person.

The only issue I had with a Strider, was my brand spanking new PT. It rattled. the blade rattled when it was open or closed. I sent it back, they sent me a new one. This was a brand spanking new knife. I hadn't done anything with it.They sent me a new one.

DaveH,

L.A. Police Gear, the dealer that sold me the knife, gave me a $50 discount because of the out-of-box flaws. Therefore, the price of the knife was actually $350 in my case. This somewhat changes the "cost sum" that you totaled. Nevertheless, your point is taken.

That's what I was thinking. When I was buying Striders I was conditioned to just add $20 - $25 to the dealer price because I knew I'd be paying for shipping 3 times on the production stuff. I fell for it though so that is all on me for continuing to buy them.:o

Yeah I agree that its ridiculous to do that. I'm getting one myself and I'm going to be disappointed if is a loose blade or bad thub piece. If it comes out of the box like that, THEY need to be paying the return shipping AT LEAST...if they can't catch flaws like they, they need to not send it out in the first place. That goes for any company that sells them at that price...

Despite all the stuff in this thread I sincerely hope you get a good knife and are happy with it.

Ditto that. Like I said, I've got some that I'm definatly not parting with myself. The designs are excellent they just need to put a little more time into some of them before they go out the door.

Hey guys, I finally got it in-strider sng.

I do have some first impressions on it.The finish is well done and I have no complaints there. I previously owned a hk34 and this definetely is lighter then the hk, but the handle is due to that. The handle "feels" like its made out of plastic but it still feels pretty solid. I have larger hands a there is a bit a room still for me to grab onto.

Currently is pretty stiff to open but they say a hundred openings or so will take care of that.

The blade is really sharp and a tab bit sharper then my hk came..and better steel.

Currently I'm not sure how to tighten the pivot hinge because i feel a tiny bit a blade play that I want to tighten up on.

Anyone know how to tighten this?

I'll report more back on it after some time.
