The rarest of occurrences, and I'm in a panic! Just realized my pockets are empty! How could I let that happen?!?!
Granted, it's my fault. Thursdays are my "get up really early, and hope I put everything together the night before" days. I get up around 4:30, and head out to meet folks in my "Discipleship Group" at 5:30. For me, that's about 2.5 hours earlier than normal. Usually I gather all my clothes together the night before, put the EDC load into the pockets and on the belt (or just re-wear the pants), and then just get up and go the next morning. Last night I had taken my EDC knife out of the pocket to help open Christmas presents (we're celebrating early, due to upcoming travel), and just forgot to put it back, and I had just given away my secondary knife to a good friend who retired that day.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I have a back-up knife somewhere around here, or at least I can use the short blunt serrated blade on my SwissTool Spirit.
So, what are your back-up options, should the unthinkable happen? Do you keep a couple knives in the glove box of your car? Do you have an emergency B.O.B. within reach? Do you just go to the breakroom at work and borrow a steak knife from a drawer?
Really, at 20+ years as a knife knut, this is the first time I didn't even check my pockets, and managed to make it all the way to work.
Tell me your tales of woe and horror, about that day you just plain forgot.
