We were thinking of buying land. We didn't though; something I (don't) regret ('cos "No Regrets!") more with every day that goes by. The pic with the forest-covered mountain - could have been ours - practically all of it! 30 acres. For about £10,000.

It was very near the Romanian border and there was a road with a small checkpoint. The road went right past the property and there were some potential plans to (much) enlarge the checkpoint. That would have needed the road making bigger as well. That's what put us off firstly. Our plan was to move there to live. We would still likely have gone for it, but the other thing that made us rethink was me having a small stroke just before we were due to pay for the land. That's life I guess :( We just don't have enough money to be able to take chances that big. We could easily have lost everything.

We stayed most of the time we were there in Vidin, a really lovely place with the most amazing park on the banks of the Danube. We spent a lot of time there - just wandering about or sitting by the river. Eating on the floating restaurants. I would love to go back there, when the pain over not getting our land has subsided some more. Might take a while.

You're supposed to use a fishing rod, but I guess there's more than one way to skin a bass. :p

Loved Norway!

Was there back in 93, 94ish for Battle Griffin NATO Exercises. Loved it. Was there for two solid months. That's pretty much what it looked like the entire time. :D

Hey, have you ever seen an Alligator Gar? They have REALLY NASTY TEETH! Makes you want way more than a .308... :)
