Got the middle three greens in the morning and was pretty sure what the last letter must be, but none of the words seemed like they'd be legitimate, so I went with the one I thought sounded least slang-y just now and made par.

Here's your vague hint of the day: If it takes you more than four guesses, you might feel vaguely attacked once you do figure it out.

The 3rd guess saved Par. Per WordleBot, 9 choices
after the 2nd guess and only 1 after the 3rd.

If it makes you feel better, it took WordleBot
5 guesses to solve it. ;)

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 3.8.

PINEY? Really? Looked at this word a long time
before I decided to enter it.

Only 2 possibilities per WordleBot. The other was
LIMEY. Didn't think of it but I keep assuming that
WordleBot works the same way as Scabble does by
excluding slang or foreign terms. It's doesn't!

The final NYT average for this puzzle was 4.3.

SAME. I thought "That's totally not a real word." But I had _INE_ and the last letter pretty much had to be Y, and none of the other consonants made anything that even sounded like a fake word, so there I was...

You wouldn't be able to use your first word if it did, would you?

True but I've used that word so often I don't think about it and still default to Scrabble rules when I play the game but I'll try to resist that impulse from now on. ;)
