FWIW, I use a "sad" face for a reaction to a 5/6/Fail because a "like" doesn't seem appropriate and I won't take offense if you use it when I score a 5 or worse in reaction to any future puzzles because I view it as an expresssion of sympathy/solidarity.

PS: I struggle with quite a few puzzles, especially those like the last two when I've only got vowels to work with after the 2nd guess.

The "trick" in those cases is to try to pick a word for the 3rd guess that makes use of the most likely/frequent consonants still remaining, which was the key to solving the last 2 puzzles for me. In effect, I switch to the consonant approach for the 3rd/4th guesses (and others if necessary).

I considered changing my starting strategy from the "vowel" to the "consonant" approach after the last 2 puzzles but, after doing some testing, I did not find that it improved the likelihood of solving either of the puzzles any quicker.

In fact, WordleBot, which uses a variable "consonant" approach actually did more poorly in today's puzzle than I did. 🤷‍♂️

sgt1372 sgt1372 I appreciate your approach given that you aren’t limiting yourself to already discovered words and have a goal of solving within four guesses. Given those parameters your use of strategy is spot on.

The nice thing about Wordle is that you can play with more than one approach. I’m just waiting for the day when adieu is the solution 😁

I'm not sure if ADIEU is on the original list of words but, even if it is, I'm pretty sure that the new Wordle Editor (who has already changed 6 words in the 7 days since it was reported that she was given the job) won't allow it to be used

I did get an Eagle for STORY already. It would have been an Ace if I used it 1st instead of ADIEU but it really doesn't matter to me.

Not sure where that "spare me" came from in my post because I didn't type that? My post was made with good "ribbing" intentions.

But yeah, the sad smiley stings.. but in a playful way :)

Pressure is on sgt1372 sgt1372 , slip on that edge and we are collectively raining sad smileys all over you!

Now.. we wait, we watch.
