On Playing Wordle . . .

02/26/2022: Wordle 252 4/6

This solution maintains my "par 4" score for the last 4 puzzles.

Wasted a guess on the 2nd try but wasn't too difficult to guess the word after revealing 2 extra letters in the 3rd.

Tried every variation of words ending in "ID" that I could think of, based on the result of the 3rd try, w/o success.

Figured there had to be another "I" in the 2nd position and then just resorted to the "blunt force" method of trying every remaining letter in the 1st and 3rd d positions and finally found the correct answer.

Figured it was a double letter word but one of those that can be spelled differently in a variety of ways. SKILL and SKIFF were 2 other words that occured to me. Fortunately, I correctly guessed SPILL but it could have easily been a "fail" too. So, I consider this just a lucky guess. ;)

4th guess couldn't have been SKILL or SKIFF. And if you have guessed SKILL on the 3rd try, I believe there would have only been three possible options left for the 4th. In that case, do you just brute force try the luckbox (as you did here) . . . or do you monkey around with something like WHIPS?

True, SKIFF or SKILL couldn't have been the answer for the 4th since the K was already eliminated but when I "brainstorn" I like to consider all options, even if obviously wrong, because the letter patterns can often reveal the correct answer in the process.

FWIW, I also considered STIFF and STILL which also would have been wrong because the T was already eliminated but my objective was to figure out the 2nd letter and that included ruling out the K and T in the process.

Ended up w/a choice between SPIFF and SPILL (based after ruling out SKIFF/STIFF and SKILL/STILL) and decided on SPILL which luckily was the correct answer.

As you say, you were lucky. Could just as easily have been SHILL or SWILL. I was just as lucky on my third try. Again, I think the luck factor adds to the interest (at least it doies for me).

Yeah, for some reason, SWILL came to mind before SPILL, so that cost me a point. Four guesses have been my average, so I don't feel too bad.

i think there may have been a couple other letters that would have worked as well.

Pretty easly to solve after getting 3 in the Green on the 3rd try.

Yeah, I'm pretty much done w/Quordle.

It takes too long and too much concentration to deal with and honestly I fail too often to enjoy it because I don't want to put the time/concentration into the game to solve all 4 boards in 9.

It can be done but it's WORK and not FUN! ;)

This is the same reason I haven't even bothered playing 6 letter Wordle, beyond a couple test games. It takes real WORK to solve it!

Wordle is "just" right.

It takes some concentration but not THAT much and can usually be solved in just a few minutes, so it's not a burden/distraction.

It's also good that you are limited to playing just 1 game a day w/Wordle, so that you don't become obsessed w/it. :)

So, I'm just going to stick with Wordle.

Can't figure out how to paste it here, but by some sort of sorcery I had the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th letters correct right out of the gate on the 1st guess. 😲 But it took me three more guesses to get that middle letter. 🤔 LOL.

I couldn't cut/paste w/my laptop.

So, I solved the puzzle again on my phone which I could use to share the result w/myself and the cut/paste it here. I was also able to take a screenshot of the actual board as solved w/my phone. This is what I do w/every Wordle game.

As for the challenge, the middle letter was the 1st and only letter that I got before I solved the puzzle and I still don't know how I came up w/that word -- it just seemed "right" to me. LOL! ;)
