On Playing Wordle . . .

Getting into this quordle thing!

Daily Quordle #36
5️⃣8️⃣
7️⃣6️⃣

Despite my prior comments, I'm still "dabbling" w/Quordle but results are inconsistent. Solved #35 but failed #36

The best result I've achieved so far in Quordle was in this "practice" game that I played yesterday.
Almost a perfect 3/4/5/6! :)

Achieved the same result in Game #37 today but will only post another Quordle pic if I achieve a perfect 3/4/5/6.

I'm obviously NOT going to post any pics of my Quordle failures of which there have been (and will continue to be) many. ;)

Got lucky because there were a least 3 other words that could be spelled by using just 1 other letter. Could easily have taken 6 tries to solve it.

Not many alternate spellings possible but, of course, I picked the "wrong" one 1st. :(

@Amazing Virginian: Same 4th word?
Thought maybe I gave a hint when I mentioned "cut" and "paste." πŸ˜‰ Yes, puree.

And I took four tries today. Pretty impressed that you got it in three!

Just luck!

Thought of the 3 other words before I randomly chose the "winner." ;)

Again, I will reveal the other words that I was thinking of tomorrow.

Birdie 3. Seemed like the only plausible answer. Nothing else occured to me. Fortunately, it was correct. ;)

This was just luck. Was it HASTY, PASTY, TASTY or NASTY? Thought of and chose NASTY last.

Got our first 2 on Wordle yesterday - had three yellow letters to start and pulled a lucky guess on the second go round.

Disappointing Par 4. :(

When 3 letters were revealed in the 1st try, thought I could solve it in 2 but couldn't solve it until I got all 3 letters in the green.

A brain twister. Made me think and work for it.

The placement of the R and the existence of the 2 vowels limited the possibilities to just this one for me.

Here's a somewhat interesting article about the "rankings" of Wordle players worldwide:

Wordle Player Rankings

According to this "study," Sweden ranks 1st w/an average of 3.72 tries and the US 18th w/an average of 3.92 tries.

The "problem" I have with this report is that it's based on a numerical compliation of geo-tagged TWEETS which is fundamentally flawed for a variety of reasons:

First, the TWEETS are self-reported, which are inherently suspect because ppl are more likely to tweet positive results but NOT negative results and, as reported on the Net, people are CHEATING and therefore the results they report are invalid;

Second, there is no control for the # of games attempted; the more games played the more likely the average would be lower;

Third, the geo-tags do not necessarily accurately report the location of any players because geo-tags can be blocked or altered; and

Fourth, lastly and perhaps most importantly, Wordle is NOT stictly a game of "skill" because "luck" plays a large part in which "seed"words and the letters that they reveal and which words you choose for a final solution when there are many other possible spellings.

So, while these results are superficially interesting, the likelihood of their accuracy leaves much to be desired.

Three tries today. After two guesses, I had the first letter in place, and I had two other letters out of place, neither of which could be the final letter. So I just stacked the three letters together at the start of the word, and . . . voila! A bit lucky, but some strategery too.
