On Playing Wordle . . .

Wordle 237 3/6

⬜⬜⬜🟩🟨
🟨🟨⬜⬜⬜
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Got lucky again today. Got 4 out of 5 letters w/1st 2 words w/1 in the green. Just a matter of eliminating all likely combos until the right one was found.

Yesterday's was a lucky guess too. Got all 5 letters w/1st 2 words. None in the green but, again, it was just a matter of testing all likely probables.

The key to both solutions was the choice of the 2nd word, which for me is usually a word starting w/a C, S, F or B. Just happened 2 pick the "right" word the last 2 days but there have been many other times when that did NOT happen.

I haven't used "adieu" as a seed word yet, because I can't shake my scrabble-rules mindset that it's an illegal 'foreign word' πŸ€”πŸ˜‡

There are many other "recommendations" but ADIEU is the only word that I have used for the 1st word because it removes 4 out of 5 vowels from consideration. Then, it's only a matter of choosing the "right" 2nd word w/an O in it to eliminate all of the vowels and just focus on the consonants.

This could be done using other 1st/2nd words using 3/2 vowel words instead but I find using ADIEU most efficient.

I read an article that, interestingly, suggested words one and two be high consonant words. Interesting....

i just found out there is a wordle2, running 6 letter words on a 12 hour cycle - for those that are intersted

The Wordle Archive (a link provided at the top of this thread) provides options to play unlimited random 5 or 6 word games.

I tried the 6 letter game and it is significantly more difficult than the 5. So, I'll stick w/the 5 which is difficult enough. The random 5 game is a good place to practice w/o worrying about your score.

You can also create "challenge" and "timed" word games to play w/others on The Wordle Archive.

This puzzle today wasn't that much different than the one yesterday but it was more difficult for me, even though I found 4 letters (1 green) on the 1st 2 tries, because of the different consonants used in the mystery word. Again, the choice of the 2nd word was key to the solution.

yes I faked it, Wordle 239 doesn't come out until tomorrow!

I tried the 6 letter version and on the one hand, getting to guess an extra letter in the first try is useful - I have done well with "stored" - but man it takes some tough brain-grinding after that! So far I managed 4 out 5 - on the 5th my last guess was the wrong choice of 2 possible options I could think of

At a glance I thought you said you were doing well at it stoned. Then my brain caught up to my eyes haha

I didn't read all 6 pages but I've been playing wordle for a week
My opening word is AEROS. Followed up by UNITY. I love word games and play a lot of scrabble on my phone app.

Another mystery word with multiple possible spellings based on a single letter. I never seem to choose the "correct" spelling 1st; often last.

Oh well . . .

My "solution" for 02/12/2022: Wordle 238 4/6 - ULTRA

Here is my "cheat sheet". The top are words I use which have the highest frequency letters. The bottom is a letter frequency chart.

Interesting. Don't like using combos that use repeat letters but could have pretty easily solved ULTRA in 3 tries using AEROS & UNITY.

Will check to see how this combo works for other words later.

My 3rd play is often a word with Ch somewhere in it. I like to play something with a vowel hit in a different location so I can identify its position.
