Wordle 483 3/6

This was a very hard one if you got the last four letters and I imagine a lot easier if you got the first one. I think there were seven possible choices after getting four greenies but missing the first letter. I narrowed it down by one choice from my first word, then got the pattern with my second, which was a partial waste of a guess because my next step was eliminating past Wordles, and it turns out my second guess had already been one. A lot of luck went into my third, because I was only able to get it down to four options for guess three. So I went with the one that would have made me the most irritated if I'd BOLO'd for the day and was not disappointed.

Got a "clue" from what others said above.

It didn't "spoil" it for me because I still had to choose the right
word but made it clear that I needed to use another word to
reduce the possibilities, of which I counted at least 6. The 3rd
word chosen limited the possible answers to to just 1.

So, thanks everyone! Your tip helped me avoid a Bogie or worse. :)

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 4.8. So, it has been a
very tough puzzle for many.

10/14/2022: Wordle 482 3/6 FLOOR

Not enough vowels so I guessed a double O and went with
"___ ___ OOR" as the initial letter pattern and FLOOR was the
only word that fit it.

WordleBot said there were 20 possibilities after the 2nd guess
and rated my solution at 97 for "luck" but there were only 6 other
possibilities using a double O and only 1 using the R as the last
letter. So, IMO the solution was NOT due entirely to luck.

The final NYT average for this puzzle was 4.0.

Tricky with the green/black/green/black/green pattern, which gave me at least nine options. Two were eliminated as past Wordles, then a fortunate guess eliminated four words based on the second letter, narrowing it to two, and a second lucky guess got the right one of the two.

3 possibilities per WordleBot. 2 choices that I thought
of and 1 that I didn't. Chose the one of the 2 that
used the letter that I considered more likely 1st.

The current NYT average for this puzzle is 3.8.

10/15/2022: Wordle 483 4/6 CATCH

Only 2 letters to work with after the 2nd guess -- AT.
Figured the pattern had to be "___ AT ___ ___" and
most likely " ___ ATCH."

I immediately thought of MATCH but then realized
there were many other possibilities. 16 per WordleBot
but "only" 7 by my count -- WATCH, PATCH, HATCH, LATCH,
CATCH, BATCH & MATCH -- using the chosen letter pattern.

So, I looked for a word that would help eliminte as many
of these possibilities as possible and chose CHAMP, which
reduced the possibilities to just one -- CATCH.

The final NYT average for this puzzle was 4.8.
