On the bench or...better than nothing.

Looking good Pat! I hope this will finally get those seagulls out of your system!

Thanks Phil but your are mistaking me for Greg, my virtual twin! ;)
Perhaps, but I'm not so sure about that...birds of a feather, and all that! After all, I believe that is your knife with bird wings on them?! :p Looking good I might add.

First thought that came to mind when i saw your guard was Dragster wheel w/ wings, might have been an artist named ratfink that distorted my perception, or the fact i was attending dragraces with my family since the age of 5, either way its gorgeous and a beautifull piece of work!! As far as hockey goes theres some (redwing) resemblance but my nephew just returned (defeated) from Richmond, Canada as a jr. Winterhawk! Sooo whether its Hawk wings or a Dragster wheel its way more than nothin my friend!!! Ghaile

very nice work Pat! When I first saw the guard and pommel setup, I thought to myself "He should put a matching piece of copper at the pommel end", then I got to the picture of the semi-finished pommel, and there it was. I agree with the statement above that the guard is unusual in going up instead of down, gives me inspiration to do a guard in the future, shaped like a pair or wings, arched and flared down for landing.
Pretty sure that is still a while away for me though...

Thanks for the good words guys. Tonight was a good night. I was stumped about how to tie everything together and what to do with the front of the copper guard. But I found a way to do it that I am satisfied with. We may see this thing finished in a week or two, finally!

Pat, I finally set down and ran thru this entire thread. While it doesn't look like something I would attempt. I must say I really appreciate the work and dedication you are putting into thie piece!

I rather like how it is coming along, the choice of materials and are really intriguing too. I can't wait to see how you finally tied it all together in the finished knife. Some copper at the pommel might help to pull it together.:)

I love how it's coming Patrice. I spent a couple hours the other day at the bookstore looking at architectural books, art books and such finding inspiration directly related to your influence.
I love the wings. I think Art Nouveau when I see that knife. Keep it up and I might eventually make an "art" knife.
I eagerly await the finished product. (my shipping address sent in a PM)....;)

Thanks for the good words guys. I know I say this a lot but I really appreciate it believe me.

Brian, I am happy that you are using architecture books, art books and such for inspiration. That's what I do also and it is very useful for developing your creative side.

The dagger is almost done. I should have the final pics by the middle of next week. I hope you guys like it.
