Pictures here! On the Bench

What are we looking at there Big L ?
it's a harness for Mako. Poor girl has a sprained foot and we can't get out for walks, but she'll be hiking in style with her new outfit soon enough

Looks like he's planning to use a shoulder strap and an extra handle for maximum control of his sturdy Lorien Lorien CUTLASS . 😀

EDIT ~
I somehow missed your reply Lorien  Not jesting at Mako's expense. Would have kept my thoughts to myself, had I known.
Good to hear you came up with a solution to get Mako out and about again. The rig looks pretty cool, no matter its purpose.

no worries man!
also, you're not far off- I just got the scabbard put together for that cutlass last night as well! I'll put a pic of that up a little later👍

here's the cutlass scabbard I'm working on

I'm calling dibs on this one now so I don't miss out on another one lol. Mark me down sir. Called it first
duly noted, and I'm flattered 🥰 .
I'm not 100% on what the fate of this thing will be, but if it becomes available, you get rofr!
It's pretty nasty, though.

I ordered a pack of 25 blades for my portaband, and they showed up last week, so I'm getting some profiling started.

I wanted 14tpi blades but they were on backorder, so I got 18tpi which works fine. Except for the CPM D2- that shit dulled these blades almost immediately, so I used my angle grinder and Dremel cut off wheels to get the job done. I'm not totally sure why that D2 is such a bitch, but I'm not a fan at this point

Give me a shout when B is ready. ;) That looks promising and not a profile I currently have. Looking forward to seeing what E will be too.

B is going to be a little utility knife, nothing fancy, and I'll be making a few in AEB-L and S35VN. E will be a hunting knife and I'm making two of them from CPM D2.

At the moment, I'm breaking down the material and it looks like there's going to be about 30 fixed blades and a half dozen or so folders, (eventually). I'm going to start with the S35VN ones, so I can heat treat them all at the same time, and then I'll move on to the AEB-L ones, which make up the majority

I'll be busting ass for the next couple of days getting this ready for heat treatment

Got a bunch of steel processed into knife sized pieces

and then got the surfaces prep'd and ready for layout dye

just gotta drill some holes, clean up the profiles a bit and then it's a heat treating extravaganza. D2, A2, CPM S35VN, AEB-L
I'm looking forward to getting through this, so I can get back to a couple other things in the works. Picking up nitrogen is a pain and it's kind of expensive, and it doesn't last super long, so I want to make sure I put the juice I have to use. This big batch of knives'll keep me busy for awhile and once all the blanks are hardened I can work on them more efficiently.

my goal was to have all these heat treated by the end of the month, so I can focus on squaring away a couple builds by mid May. Pretty sure I'm on track!

May I suggest - don't worry about the track just enjoy the ride. You aren't just going in circles. There is a pile of creativity goodness and productivity there on the bench. Live long and prosper.
